Honest!!!! One LOVES people and just sits on my lap and the other is a bit more energetic and wants to run around a bit, but then fell asleep in my hands. The more energetic one chewed (once) on my watch realized it wasnt edible and that was it... Not ONE bit.

Do a trial run, I can take them back if it doesn't work!!

That sounds pretty risk-free. DH can't get too upset about that.

Let me know, I took them to a friends house today (But it is not too far from here) if you want to come meet them I will go get them.

I am babysitting a sugar glider and the cages were starting to add up, so I had to liquidate a bit!!!

I will be home most of the day tomorrow!

She is beautiful! She looks like the queen of the house.

It is a go, Ljk! If you still have the girls, my girls would like to meet them!

We had looked into getting a pet rat a while back but after researching them, we found out the average lifespan is less than 2 yrs. I get way too attached for that short lifespan! They are great pets though! The teacher across the hall from me several years back had a pair of sisters that were awesome! They were extremely affectionate and smart! They both ended up getting cancer which I found out is pretty common in rats.

The lifespan is why my husband likes them!

That reminds me, any idea how old they are ljk?

One person looked and said 6 months and another said they were too big for 6 months and guessed 8 months... so let's say 7!!:lol:

Did you make it home ok with them?

(to all reading.... the cage came apart and they were scampering around my yard this morning!! YIKES!!) I was looking for the darned Candid Camera!

We got home fine, thank you! We let them hang out in mostly seclusion all day and then let them run around the bathroom for a while tonight. They were nervous but just like you said, the one with the nibbled ear explored(especially the wastebasket) and the other was all over us.
Hope your day turned out ok.

    So.... how is it going?

Pretty well! I gave their cage a good scrubbing and deodorizing and they seemed to enjoy it-got right in and started hiding food under the aspen shavings and running around exploring. Tomorrow we will go buy them some toys.
They have a little bathroom time each day and get lots of veggies, fruit, and cereal for treats. We had been keeping the cage in a bedroom but are bringing it out for a while daily so they and the dogs can get acquainted. Also they look really startled when we go in there so I thought it might help to be in the midst of everything; my husband still thinks they look- well, like rats so I put them back in the room when I go to work. The girls named the one with the nibbled ear Bella and the other is Rose(or Rosie). They are still nervous but curious and sociable once they get out of the cage. Rose does make this noise when she is out that I wanted to ask you about, kind of a monkeyish little noise but I really do not think it is a respiratory thing. She is active and her eyes are bright and no discharge-maybe it is fear or excitement? I haven't had rats in years so I am rusty on their habits.
Anyway, I think we are all pretty happy-thanks so much, they are lots of fun. Sorry about the long post.
