Nah - I don't pay much mind to what you have to say usually. 8)

They do work for the food they eat, etc. In spite of your ignorance of the situation, inmates don't sit around their cell all day and night watching TV and lifting weights. They are working or going to school (except for a few that would be dangerous to let out to work or go to school). At the end of the day, you want them to just shut down? I'm not out lobbying for them to get massages and bubble baths, but a little humanity goes a long way.

No one has ever said, "You know, I miss the weight room and black and white TV in prison, so I think I'll commit a crime and go back."

Good that they work for their food! Awesome! So they grow their own Corn and make flour? They have herb gardens? The cut down their own trees to make their own paper plates to eat off of? In case you can't see where I'm going with this is if they work their "money/points earned" needs to go towards their up keep. Just like I have to work for MY up keep.

And who teaches them? A state paid employee? That BS needs to be shut out. If they want a college degree they need to do it on their own dime. Period.

And yes at the end of they need to just shut down. What else would they do?

These 2 statements shows your ignorance.

You have only elaborated on one of my questions. But you have yet to tell me how any of that is treating an inmate like an animal?

Pssst.....not to get involved here but I do have an answer to one question.

My mom used to teach in a local county jail where she lives. She taught basic life lesson types of stuff. Such as balancing a checkbook, how to interview for a job.....basic business type of stuff so that when released back into society they had some idea how to at least make an attempt to have a better life. She actually worked for technical type school so yes it was federally funded. Now she hasn't worked there for about a year as the state ended up cutting the program!!

So you think rehabilitation has no place in the criminal justice system?

That sounds like money well spent. I don't understand why people think it costs less to warehouse inmates than to prepare them for life. In the long run, I think this sort of thing cuts way down on recidivism, and saves taxpayers money.

    rehabilitation... yes

It kind of is/was Koo....but the inmates had to "earn" the privelege of being in her class. If they acted up once...they were OUTTA THERE!!!! I often heard stories from her about some of her students and how sometimes she was in lockdown with them. She always had an armed guard outside her door so that made me feel better as I am sure her as well.

It was a good program, like I said she was eventually laid off (had the position for over 10 years) due to state budget cuts.

I've come to the conclusion that she's only saying it to "get my goat". I really don't think she actually believes half of what she's saying.

You're just jealous because the college education I got in prison made it so I earn more in one week than you earn in a month.

commit a crime serious enough to go to prison, then be given a college education? i'm sorry, but that's not punishment, that's a reward. if you (in the general sense, not anyone in particular) did get a college education in prison and now you make lots of money, you owe the state/fed/whoever paid for it the amount it would have cost you to get the education yourself. consider it a student loan and pay it back.

being sent to prison is punishment. being cut off from regular society. being cut off from access to things that non-criminals have access to in the real world every day. that should include college, imho, unless the inmate pays for it while he's taking the courses. that's a lot of license plates to punch...

It was a student loan, and I did pay it back (except for the Pell Grant, of course).

Y'all have some strange ideas about prison. Perhaps you should read up on it a bit before commenting. You know, actually become informed about the subject you keep blathering on about.

I believe ever word of what I've wrote. And quite to the contrary, I am not saying any of this to "get your goat". I want nothing of what you have, goat included.

Your last comment is your true colors shining through yet again. Ignorance at the forefront.

I have not need to boast and brag. I have no need to Enlightened person and moan. I have what I have and I'm damn proud of it. If it's less than yours... marvelous! If it's more than your...we'll never know, now will wee? I've put forth a genuine effort to use my words like silk to keep your quick witted temper at bay and caressed, in hopes to have a civil conversation with you. An adult conversation. I guess my efforts were fruitless.

If these were words used like silk, I'd hate to see your words used like a sledge.

no matter how much money Clif may or may not make, one thing is for sure, it can't buy him a better personality.

Trust me. I was being very nice with all my words. As my restraint right now is baffling even me!

You assume many things about my character and you really shouldn't... because your asinine responses establish this as truth. The VERY few people whom have met me on here can vouch for my character.

I'm going to do us both a favor and not respond any more to you. You clearly are exactly the person your greatest fan claims you to be.

I've given it my best and have fun in the world of clif. I see it's getting lonelier there.
