My oldest "baby" has got a big lump on her hip. I just noticed it the other night but it wasn't as big as it is right now. She got out a few weeks back and we could not find her or my shephard mix and the next morning they were on the porch. My DD mentioned that she doesn't seem as active as she use to be, which watching her the past few days, I did notice that and she seems to be favoring her let a bit and sometimes she will shake a bit like she is nervous. Has anyone had any experience with Garner Animal Hospital? That is where we have her an appointment. I am really worried about her. She is about 11 or 12 and has always been in good health. Dummy me got on line and started reading things as to what it could be and I am just a wreck. DD is very upset and scared what it could be also. It seems like all of the sudden her face is really showing her age.
Sorry to hear about that ! I hope your baby will be back up and running in no time . Good luck to you and yours .
Thanks...me too. She just looks so old and so sad right now. It is breaking my heart. I have had her since she was about 4 months old.
It may be something as simple as a spider bite--try not to get too worried until you know there's something to worry about. I've heard good things about Dr Marlatt if he's the doc who will be seeing your baby. Don't be afraid to get a second opinion if he can't give you an answer. Sometimes it takes a whole team to figure out what's wrong with our furry babies since they can't talk to us.Hope everything turns out well
Is it a skin bump/lump; can you move it; is it more like a BONE or on the bone; does she let you feel of it all over???? Make sure the VET knows the answer to the questions.
That is what I am hoping, maybe a bite or a bee sting. She has started really favoring her leg this evening. It just makes me so sad.
She really doesn't want us to touch it. She will barely tolerate us touching it but it is about as big as our hand. It is kind of hard but she won't really let us mess with is. It seems to be taking a little bit for her to get up from a laying down position and she usually tries to jump on the couch or the love seat to "nap" and right now she looks at them and then just lays down next to them and won't even try. She is eating and drinking, so I am taking that as a good sign. I just wish there was something I could do to make her feel better. I thought about trying to get her to leave an ice pack on it, but she just does not want us near that area.
Well, baby girl goes to the vet in the morning. Hubby is off and I know I will be on pins and needles until I hear what is going on. Got home tonight and it looks like the lump is a little bigger. My daughter asked me if it looked bigger because she thought so too. Even my other 2 seem to sense there is something going on.
Hope the vet visit went well. Keep us posted. One of my furrbabies had a HUGE lump a few years back. Turned out to be a spider bite. It was HUGE - I had no idea it would do that. My poor beagle man had a tennis ball sized lump on his head.
Ok, update on my baby...she does have arthiritis and she also has bone cancer. From what the dr said, it is one of the rare types of cancer and cannot let us know how long she has, could be a few weeks, few months or few years. We have to watch it because where it is located at it could the lining is thin and could burst through inside and she could bleed to death. She is too old to do surgery and no guarantees that she would make it. So far now, all we can do is keep her comfortable with asprin therapy and keep an eye on her. I will not let her suffer though. So we wait and go from there, I just hope she will be around until Kyle makes it home to say goodbye. We have opted not to tell him because right now he has a full plate with school.
Thanks.....It is taking everything I have to keep from just breaking down when I look at her. I am trying to be strong for my daughter, but it is hard! My poor DD has got swollen and red eyes.
