Well, baby girl will not eat her regular dog food now, which is normally dry dog food. We can get her to eat canned dog food and she will eat the dog treats. She is not use to getting canned dog food, so concerned that she might get the runs or something like that. Her cyst is getting a bit bigger. Her one leg is gives her a bad time. She won't go upstairs. She looks like she wants to go up, but she won't. She has gotten little spurts of energy here and there, so the aspirin seems to be helping somewhat as far as her atheritis goes. My son calls and asks me everyday how she is doing and it is so hard not to tell him, but just don't feel it is the right time. His plate is so full right now, I don't need him worrying about Belle right now. She has been getting a little spoiled though, not that she nor the other dogs weren't spoiled before, just a little bit more than usual though. Guess that is what knowing she is dying is doing. Oh my gosh, that is the first time I used that work, dying!!!! I HATE THAT WORD!!!! When the time comes, I just don't know if I can be with her when the time comes to put her down....I want to, but don't know if I can. I was not able to be there with my other dog when the time came. I didn't want to let her go, even though her back was broke and I knew it had to be done. Thank goodness there was someone there for me and for her. Our family vet, who had retired and was like a father to me, was there for both of us. How am I going to be able to do this??? How??? How am I going to be able to tell my son???? How am I going to be able to comfort him if he is still in MS???? I don't know if I will be strong enough to do it.

She will tell you when it is her time to go. If you have to take her in to put her down, you will find a strength you didn't know you had so that you can be with your baby; it was the hardest thing I have ever done but I was glad I was with mine. I am sorry you all have to go through this.:grouphug:

FF, I am so sorry. We all know that at some point our pets' lives will end, but we put it off as long as possible because it hurts. You'll do the right thing for her when the time comes. And Kyle is a man. He can handle it with your help. No magic words here, just :grouphug:. Much love.

So sorry ff. You will find the strength you need when you need it. This is the most difficult part of pet ownership and the most important. Stay strong.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it all. To give a little humor to a sad situation, last night when we had all the rain and thunder going on, my girl decided she did not want to stay downstairs, so she tried so hard to go up the stairs and slipped a couple of time. Her legs just didn't want to go, so she sat downstairs whinning. Well old softie me, I felt so bad, so I came back down stairs, (was going to bed) and CARRIED this 50/60 pound dog up the stairs!!! LOL I carried her almost like a child. She was facing me and I was trying to carry her and she kept wanting to lick my face!!! I finially got her up stairs, but boy, it was hard. Didn't know if I was going to make it, plus trying not to hurt her. I told my husband we needed to get a hoist!!! Today she has had a little energy. How long it will last, don't know. What I do know is if she is bound and determined to go upstairs tonight, my daughter is going to help me!

You all have made me cry!!! I appreciate all the kinds words so much. We are spoiling her rotten, let me tell you. Have to be if I am carrying her upstairs!! LOL I have been trying really hard to keep things as normal as possible, but there are times when I look at her and she looks at me, I just start breaking down and get teary eyed. One time I was doing thing and I had her come and lay her head on my lap and just look at me and wagged her tail. Of course it made me cry more, but...

I told my daughter when the time came, we would see about getting her cremated and putting her ashes out back with my other dog.
