Anyone know of a place with good food for a family dinner? There are 8 of us, so inexpensive would be a plus. I want to take the family out for a fun dinner. There are 4 children ages 3 to 12. Thanks

The Golden Corral in Fuquay is very nice and affordable. We went there for the first time the other weekend and the food was great. I usually do not like GC's but this one wasn't like the others. It was clean and had LOTS of selections.

We want a place that will serve us so we can sit and relax. We want to just sit and be lazy and get a little fatter than we are now. :p

If you all like Mexican food , Mucho Mexico in smithfield is a great place to sit and eat , great authentic food , great prices , great service ! We have been there a few times and love it . They have Tv's as well , for the younger ones !

Vanero's in Clayton is great for that kind of thing. the food is good, service is great! or visa versa..thay have a small arcade for the kids kinda hiding off the back, So if you dont want them to see it you can kinda lead them the other way. but the sit down thing is a plus. expecially if you like good Italian food.

The last time I went to Mucho Mexico, they served me my food, I had started picking at it, had my fingers in it and they came back and told me it belonged to another table. Instead of taking the food back, they took my plate and took it straight to the other table and served it to them. I have not been back since. Service is horrible.

I consider TK Tripps to be a little more on the expensive side. Cracker Barrel, McKinleys (they'll put tables together to accomodate a party of 8 in the dining area), Cleveland Draft House, if its nice you could sit outside on the patio area. Theres always the other usuals... Olive Garden, Ragazzi's, Red Lobster, Macaroni Grill, On The Border (great mexican food).

Thats all I can think of that hasn't been mentioned already...:)

Ragazzi's in Garner is nice, avg prices and they have a private room to far left as you go in. We often go there with friends after church - lunch prices are good.

:iagree: The Macaroni Gril and Ragazzi's are both great for a family. Kids love both and both are really laid back.

Have you ever tried restaurant.com ?
Check it out - enter your zip code and see if there are any places you would like to try. Gift cards are typically available for half-price. We went to Chops for Mother's Day & didn't really spend much at all ;)

If you're up to it - we love to take the kids to Japanese Steakhouses. We really don't spend a ton because pay a $1-$2 plate sharing fee for the kiddos. Not sure how many of your kids are big eaters, but my little one is not, so we always take advantage of that.

Just a thought, but I like Holt's Lake in Smithfield. Good down home cooking that won't set you back a fortune. They catered our wedding 10 years ago.

I want to thank everyone for their help. We have to get everyone at the same time off. I'm easy (no not that) Dh works at CSX, DD works at JMH and DS works at FedX. One child very picky 11 yr old, two will eat anything 6&8 yr old and 3 year old that will run the show (but lovingly). I don't do Mexican DH doesn't do steak DS doesn't do seafood DD will try anything. I am going to check out restaurants.com. Again thank you all I am going to suggest few of these to my family.

I wouldn't recommend the Draft House with kids, depending on how old the kids are...We've had horrible experience there before, on numerous occasions. They've made us wait very long for our food, and one time refused to give us a table, even though half of the restaurant was empty! JMHO...We do enjoy Kanki (or similar), Ruby Tuesdays, Golden Corral, RockOla, Macaroni Grill, those places are good for the kids.

I would recommend Mulberry's in downtown Clayton. They give you so much food that you could share an Adult plate and the kids meals are $4.00 and include a scoop of ice cream and the drink. The food is great and the service is terrific.
