    Cell phones

I have Sprint and Verizon service for work and Verizon for my wife's phone. The sprint service areas are the worse I have problems on a daily basis with their service areas.I like the Verizon service service the best. I had Alltel for years and their cell service was pretty good but their customer service sucked. I think Verizon just bought out Alltel so they will be the largest wireless company and should have good coverage.

I have Sprint right now, and moving over to Alltel when my contract is up. The "Circle" is appealing. The only issues I have is one dead spot on 1010 when I am heading towards Smithfield.

We decided to go with Verizon. Price wise they were all about the same (for what we were looking for). Verizon had 'the' phone that dd wanted, and we got free ones comparable to what we had with Nextel, plus newer features. Hopefully the coverage will be good for our usage areas.....:?

Not to make you regret your decision, but I think you made the best choice! 8)

Just wondering, did you go to local Verizon store, or just get setup online? Wondering if the deals are the same online vs. the local store.

I had looked online, we also went to the kiosk at BJ's and talked to rep. Then yesterday we were at Best Buy and talked to their cellphone dept and they matched everything we'd seen online and/or at BJ's - so we bought through them (BB).

So I went to the Verizon store, and got all setup with service, and got 2 of the Env2, which seem to be a nice phone, but I am less than happy with the service. The phones seem to cut out in certain areas that I never had a problem with when I was setup with Sprint. I am going to give it a few more days, but I am glad I have 30 days to back out of the contract.

I have found that AT&T has got the best coverage in my area.
I only drop a call every once in a while where Old Drug Store and 50 meet.
I found a rugged phone that I think I will not destroy the first week.
    the Motorola V620.
    Looks pretty neat.
I will let you know how it does against my line of work.:)

I've had Alltel for 6 yrs. I have a Verizon business phone. I had Nextel and Sprint phones for business in the past. By FAR, coverage wise Alltel cannot be beat anywhere in the state of NC. Nextel/Sprint is crap in the sticks. I've heard nothing but bad about AT&T in the boonies as well. I will also agree that if you have a crappy phone, (the free phones or the like) getting a call out can be challenging. Verizon's purchase of Alltel will be finalized by the year's end. I just hope Verizon doesn't do away with the "My Circle".

    We've had all of these:

    Alltel
    Verizon
    AT&T
    Nextel
    Sprint

Hands down I recommend Alltel and Verizon.

I've got verizon and it was just time for my renew every two. Which means I get a $50 discount for a new phone. I upgraded to the LG Voyager (it's scary how much it's like the iphone) great reception, touch screen, etc.. I priced stores/BJ's/Best Buy and came out $50.00 cheaper getting it at the verizon online store.

Thats the phone my DD got - it is really neat! We bought at BB and they matched the Verizon store rebate - so she paid $100 for it. Don't tell me you got it for less (not inc your discount)......:x

Like I said earlier I've been with Alltel for 6 yrs. My ONLY complaint with Alltel is they always seem to be behind on the latest phones. BTW, I got the Moto Q last year when it first came out and it was a piece of crap. I guess it'll equal out when the buyout by Verizon is finalized. Does anyone around here have the 3G iPhone? If so is it worth it?

I ended up paying $50 for it, so you got a good deal. 8)

No, but I've got the LG Voyager which is very compariable to the iphone...or you can try the new LG Dare (which is almost identical).

I had US Cellular for 6 years and LOVED them. I only switched because they didn't have an updated selection of phones (which changed within 2 months of me leaving). I didn't drop calls and all of the calls were clearer than with Alltel and Verizon. Verizon sucked unless I was on top of the tower and I dropped calls like crazy. Alltel is not terrible, but the day after my contract is up, I'm going back to US Cellular.

    Good luck!

I have Verizon and am satisfied with it. Renewed in Feb and got the update discount. Got the Venus and like it.

Coverage is pretty good. I have coverage from D.R. Wells to past Polenta Elementary (didn't on other providers). Was told they will all soon have the ability to tap off each others' towers like the phone companies do for fiberoptic T1-type stuff. That'll help. It's important to let your phone update at least once/month. It'll pick up the added towers.

I wish Verizon would have rollover minutes. That and starting nights at 7 pm are the only things I miss from my Sprint.
