I have looked this up online, and all I see is where you can purchase the yearly permit - but is there anyplace you can just take garbage and pay a one-time disposal fee? And a funny my son came up with yesterday, when we were driving home. We were at the corner of 1010 and Cornwallis and he eyed all of the signs attached to the poles. "Hmmm Junk B Gone... Maybe we should call them up to remove all of the junk from these poles, including their signs". Yes, he is his mother's son.
I don't believe there any free places in Johnston County. The $65 yearly fee is reducted 50% in January of every year though. I would just go to the one on Old Stage Rd if it's just like a one time use thing. It's in Wake County and they don't have a fee.
I didn't understand some of your post. The 65$ fee is reduced by 50% every January? What type of things can you bring to Old Stage Rd? "Garbage"? or large items?
http://www.wakegov.com/WakeGov/Temp...F20-B334-A4B29CB5B7FA}&NRCACHEHINT=Guest#acpt Okay, yes you can bring household garbage to old stage rd, it is free for Wake County residents. I am not a Wake County resident, does anybody know what the fee is for JoCo residents, before I call?
yes you can go to the landfill that is by The Joco airport and pay by weight. I can get the exact location tonight from dh we take tons of stuff there because we have been doing alot of yard work and house work...
Johnston County charges $65 yearly (Jul 1st - Jun 30th) to use their Convenience Centers/Landfill. You have to have a sticker issued by Johnston County to use any of them. They put the stickers on sale for half price every January but it will still expire Jun 30th. I've taken everything from an old BBQ to a computer to the Old Stage Rd location of Wake County with no problem. They've never asked me where I live. Never took garbage but I've seen many people while there that have brought their garbage. Hope this helps a little.
We tried to dump some stuff a few months ago. The guy told us we could not leave anything behind, we would have to apply for the permit first. We hit up an apartment complex on the way home and used their dumpster.
If you take it directly to the Landfill they will charge you, but only for what you dump, if I remember right. I would call Johnston County Solid Waste Division at 919-938-4750 to verify
Anytime we have taken off trash there, it has on cost us $4.00 for a load. This is for regular household trash. Some days (mostly Saturdays) they just wave you on thru.
