    Help w/ referral to ENTs

I wanted to search for the thread about area ENTs and "ENT" does not meet the four letter requirement. :x I don't think anyone spelled out "ear nose throat" in that thread either. :x Sorry, the 4 letter minimum search requirement on here just annoys the snot out of me... maybe that's why I need to find an ENT.

Actually, I need to find an ENT for my dd. She bumped her nose on a hard plastic slide a couple of weeks ago. She had a nose bleed but didn't have any bruising on the outside of her nose, no swelling, nothing else - just a short nose bleed. Well, she sounds like Rudolph now and SNORES terribly because she has swelling on the inside her nose, STILL, and it seems to be getting worse. Obviously she did some kind of damage to the inside of her nose. I don't want to take her to a pediatrician only to be told to go to an ENT, I want to go directly there. Any recommendations, anyone? BTW, she's 7.

I finally found a thread about ENTs and saw several people who liked Mann ENT a lot. Called dd's pediatrician and they said with our insurance we don't need to be referred and can go directly to an ENT. Yeah! :hurray: After reading this http://www.entman.com/AskDrSpectorNasalObstr.html I think I need to get her seen ASAP. I never knew that the nose can be damaged so easily. Now I feel so bad for waiting but we really didn't think it was that bad.

I've also looked at Capitol ENT. Mann... Capitol... which is better?

Mann ENT is the best, Dr. Richard Jones is the best pediatric ENT doc around....love him. he is my ENT as well, but has taken care of both of my son's. He, Dr. Jones comes to Clayton twice a week, has an office at the Wake Med Complex right there (sort of) across from WalMart.

Does that mean you're on ignore? I don't know, I've never done it, just wondering?

We use Capital ENT too but my son sees Dr. Stanley Wilkins. He is FABULOUS!!! I highly recommend him!! He is wonderful with the kids! But if you have an emergency get her with whoever you can! I think Dr. Stan is at the Garner office on Mondays.

I agree that the search function here absolutely stinks. I just quit trying to use it.

I had sent and received pm's earlier today...and they do not contain filth, smut or any x-rated materials. Maybe that is the problem!??! I just dunno.

And after this apology for the hijack, I too have had the same search related problem.

The 4 letter minimum search requirement is a standard setting in the vBulletin software used to run the forums here. It serves a number of purposes (both security and performance related) and is the "default" setting. And we agree - it is annoying!

We have reset the minimum search requirement to (3) characters, but will need to re-index the forums so that searches will correctly pick up three letter words from the past (such as ENT). Due to the size of the forums database and the fact that it is a processor intensive activity, we will be doing the re-index late tonight to avoid any problems with accessing the Discussion Group during regular hours.

    Thanks! 8)

Good for you Webbie. I, too, find it annoying and am glad to see you jumping on these things.

    Thanks,

:hurray::hurray: I've had problems with that too! Seems like I've never needed less than three letters, so this will be wonderful! Thanks!!

Kellbell, you were right, Dr. Jones was wonderful! Not good news for DD, she'll have to have surgery one day to repair the damage she did to her little nose. But Dr. Jones was very nice, did a great job explaining everything, said she didn't have to have the surgery right now - at such a young age - and, most importantly, seemed to put DD's best interest above putting $$ in his pocket. When we decide on having the surgery done we will definitely be seeing him again!
