Why was the poor little fella wearing a shirt IN AUGUST? I sure hope he wasn't left in that car during the day!
You have to wonder if someone didn't "rescue" him from a hot parked car. Who leaves their dog unattended in their vehicle? I'd be worried it would have an accident IN my car. :?
This past weekend I was going into Food Lion 40/42 to pick up a few things. On my way in I saw a little dog frantically running from the rear deck of the car to the front. The vehicle had a handicapped tag and parked in a handicapped space...it had one front window down about 1 1/2 inches. It wasn't THE hottest day of the summer, but it was hot - too hot for the dog. While in FL I ran into someone I know and ended up chatting about 5 min. at the checkout, I saw the vehicle was still parked in it's spot. I got ticked. I went outside, put my bag in my car and called the police, who referred me to the Sheriffs Department, who told me that they would send a car, but it is really an 'Animal Services' issue and it's a weekend. . .The asked for and I gave them my name and cell phone number. I also gave them the tag number for the vehicle and mentioned that it had stickers on the plate that expired in May. . .they didn't care. I then went and sat in my car - even with all of my windows open, it was uncomfortable. I was getting madder by the minute. I called the Sheriffs Department back and asked when a car would arrive. . the little dog was now laying on the back deck looking beat. I was parked where I could clearly see it. I told the dispatcher that while I knew they had my name, IF the owner or someone from the department didn't show up soon, I was going to put a brick through the window and take the dog. I also said that the next time I saw such a thing, I wouldn't even bother to call and would just take matters into my own hands. As I was speaking to her, the owner came out - an elderly man. The dispatcher told me to sit tight that a car was just about there. . .I shouldn't have listened - he drove away! I looked at my watch - I had been there 15 minutes - so who knows how long that pooch was there prior. If I ever make a call again - I will state a 'little one' is in a vehicle and if I can see male or female, I'll say 'little boy' or 'little girl' - it won't be a lie, as it isn't stating species. I'll suffer whatever consequences when the law arrives - fine by me. I think someone rescued that pooch at Walmart - good for them!
