Before I get blasted, yes, I've searched all the threads regarding physical therapy. I've seen Orthos, Wake Med, White Oak, and Capstone, just to name a few.

I'm having knee surgery mid-September, and will need follow-up physical therapy. I am looking for a physical therapist who will come to my home so I won't have to drive.

I've checked with my doc's office staff, and they didn't know of any.

If any of you know of any place that makes house calls, please let me know.

    Thx.

Most insurance companies will not pay for someone to come out to your home to do therapy unless you qualify. Meaning, you must be homebound and cannot get yourself to therapy. Typically what happens is your doctor will write a prescription for therapy. You'll need to talk with him regarding home health. Explain your situation and reason for not being able to get to a clinic. The home health agencies the doctors typically use are Tar Heel and 3HC. It will be short term and you will have to eventually go to the clinic.

    I hope that helps.

I worked for a physical therapist in Durham, and a lot of the times, after surgery, a home health therapist would come into your home for x number of visits, until you were able to drive yourself. I'm surprised the doctor didn't mention anything. Is it a knee replacement?

Maybe it depends on the insurance, that seems to rule everything else!:x

My mom is having it now from the broken leg, but she is in PA. Not sure how that differs from down here, but she really can't get out much.

not a knee replacement, just (another) 'scope'. I have a baker's cyst, arthritis scope, and a tear in a ligament. And, it's not that I can't drive, but for the first few days when I'm on pain meds, I really don't feel comfortable driving.

    Thanks for all the info.

I know a PT that used to do home visits. It's been a few years but I'll call her and see if she is still doing that and PM you if she is.
