I'm not entirely pleased with Pelosi's performance in the 110th Congress, or Harry Reid's either, for that matter, but that's another story.

I could only find one article about the poster incident, in SFGate, and several blog references to that article. Apparently Rep. Jones placed a poster or posters and his name on the wall of a hallway in the Rayburn House Office Building, and those were removed. According to the article I read,
The article argues that the display was not covered by the rules, but if it included the Congressman's name, it seems like it was "designed ... to bring into public notice any person;" i.e. Rep. Jones.

I did not see anywhere in the article that Pelosi ordered the posters removed or was involved in any way in their removal. Was it a stupid move on Pelosi's part if she was involved? Probably, based on what I know so far. But calling it "pelosi's latest hate move toward our soldiers who have fallen in combat" is overblown rhetoric.

    What ^ she said.

I have not heard of this before, P. My feelings towards both Pelosi and Reed are the same as KDs. I have more I could add but I am in hopes we can turn things around.

Will have to research this and get back to you unless another person does it for me.

    Good Morning,

Based on what I perceive they were elected to do, and having no mention of this particular question about the removal of posters, I think Pelosi should be fired from her position and hope that Cindy Sheehan wins the election.

I think Harry Reid is gutless as is Pelosi. I guess they forgot that the legislative branch was supposed to be a check and balance on the executive.

If Pelosi did this (and as an auditor I haven't seen any evidence yet that she did) she isn't very bright.

Update: did a search on the terms "pelosi" "jones" and "poster" in Google and found that KDSGrandma's post is basically the same posting splattered on every "conservative" site with an ax to grind as a basic cut and paste job.

The following site shows that Pelosi had a tangential role at best in this activity - The individual who used poor judgment was the "Architect of the Capitol".

I would be interested in hearing if she has heard of the issue yet and what she has done as a result.

Thanks for that link, Hugh. Based on this story, the display clearly violated policies intended to protect both handicapped access and emergency egress.
Looks like another example of the blogs of wingnuttery seizing upon anything they can find to prove Democrats "hate the troops."

I know this was not addressed to me but, UUUGGGGHHH!!!:banghead::x I have not seen this until now and it "personally" bothers me! God Bless our Men and Women in Uniform and those who have lost their lives for our freedom and the freedom of others.

Perhaps they could put up a memorial somewhere other than in the hallways? I think the safety concerns here could actually be legitimate.

    Much ado about nothing.

As a Democrat I also agree that Pelosi and Reid are pretty lame, but I think this is a non-issue blown way out of proportion.

    How About Some REAL Democrats?

What can you expect, when they seem like such a cute couple:

When the cops tell the crook that arrest is "off the table", the crook is very happy, but the citizens are not.

Count me among the 'disapprove' crowd.

No, I have not. I have read that they are in a hallway, and that the rules - to comply with the ADA and to provide emergency egress from the building - prohibit "stuff" in the halls. Whether it's furniture, files, or easels with posters on them, it seems like it would be against the rules.

You said you have seen where they are. Would you mind posting a link?

This is the Rayburn building hallway. I think there is plenty of room for such tributes in this hallway.

OK, I can understand the Safety and ADA concerns now.

Definite violations there. Our fire marshall alone would have cleared that hallway. I imagine if you could find a recent picture you would see the chairs, flags and the rest of the stuff gone. As it should be under the law. If the rest of us have to obey why should Congress be allowed to break the laws?

    Yeah, right...and Bush wasn't a "wack job"!!!!

Pelosi lost me when she took impeachment of a criminal "off the table." She's not a Democrat. She's a complicit Corprocrat.

    GO CINDY SHEEHAN!

Anyone know how wide the halls are? Seems to me that someone in a wheel chair would not be able to get out quickly if something happened. No matter what I think of Pelosi and Reed I believe the right decision was made. Surely they have somewhere to display everything that would be in compliance with the law.
