I did look to see if there was another thread for this, but I can't find one. (Just wanted to make sure you knew that before I started.) I am looking for an eye doctor to have my eyes checked. My kids go to an opthalmologist, but they have bigger issues. I've never even been to an eye doctor, much less had my eyes checked. Also, I don't want to drive to Raleigh and have them say my eyes are okay, which I'm pretty sure of. I'm just taking advantage of my new insurance, and the yearly eye exam for $20. So, anywhere around here would be great.
DD and I go to Dr. Bailey at Garner Family Eye on the corner of Vandora Springs Rd and 7th Ave. He does the most thorough eye exam I have ever seen. We both really like him.
Dr Eggleston at Clayton WalMart...most thorough eye exam I've had since I was a kid... really good guy, too...
Dr. Dornick in Smithfield (938-2010) is very good. But be prepared for a full office of patients. That means others agree he is very good.
I used Dr. Black at Eyedeals beside Food Lion and it was not alot of waiting around. My wife used a eye doctor at Lane and Associates and she liked them too.

DR. Couch - smithfield eye care center 934-8152 - I think she is great!!! They have that new machine for those of us with really junky vision who can't take getting their eyes dialated. It does cost 20 bucks extra but it is worth it. I can not stand those drops. It is a quick picture or each eye that stays on file, then they can compare it year after year.
I took DS there and was very suprised at how thorough he was. I used to work for an eye doc, so I KNOW what they are doing. He will be my choice when I go as well.
My kids and I go to Optimetric Eye Care in Smithfield. They do a very nice job and have a good selection of frames. (they have Saturday appointments.)
