A sad day for us as my 14yo. DD's beloved hamster died of old age this morning. He was a week or two shy of 3 years old. Sweet little old man too.

She wants another Teddy Bear hamster and we will get her one. However, some of you may remember the fiasco we had when younger DD's hamster died of wet tail and the new one we got her from the pet store made ground chuck out of my hands and thed died in my hands.

By posting about it on here, we ended up with the perfect hamster who is doing great. I thought I'd post again and see if anyone knows of a nice, TAME, preferably male Teddy Bear hamster who needs a new home. DD is SO sad.

A new hamster...here we go again......my hands are hurting already
(really, I had to go the the Doc when that happened) :?

    Thank you!

Yes, we love "Oliver". He is a sweetie pie and so laid back. He recently had an adventure after escaping when DD didn't secure the cage well. He made it all the way downstairs and was behind a heavy piece of furniture gnawing and scratching. I was up early and in the den alone. I thought, "Oh NO! We have a mouse." Then I decided to check on the hamsters before panicking. When I realized it was Oliver, I just went back downstairs and bent down and called his name and he came waddeling out right to me. He is a real gem and has captured our hearts.

Actually, before he died, "Chester" (older DD's hamster), managed to pull off an escape as well. It took us a few mins but we finally found him in DD's room in a corner behind her rolling closet rack. You would not believe what all that little guy had stock piled in one night. He had to go out of the room and all the way down a long hall to get to the kitchen where he managed to snatch up about 20 large pieces of dog food out of the dogs somewhat tall bowl & all of the dry cat food from the cat's bowl. There was also some yarn from my sewing area, cracker crumbs from the floor of my pantry, several pieces of cucumber peelings out of my kitchen's daily compost bin and even some scraps of paper for nesting. (I really should have DH move that heavy piece of furniture Oliver was behind to see what all he piled up on his adventure  )

When we found him we all died laughing. It is just amazing what diligent little workers they are. We really enjoy them so much (well, except the biters.)

I'll keep you posted when we find a new one.
