Welcome! You've had your taste of the newbie "baptism by fire" wherein a veteran will roll out the red carpet for you and put you in your place. You handled it with grace and dignity. Well done.
Hugh, you should have rolled out the barrel instead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp0BYV_4ueY&feature=related
Everyone needs to follow the rules, I don't care who you are. They are in place for a reason. Not trying to be ugly
is the gcaa for profit? i've pimped pop warner on here before, but it's a 501-3-c, nonprofit. if this guy's bmx thing is non-profit, so be it. if not, the innocent "i thought this was a good place to do a public service and let people know about an activity for their children" is just insulting...
I don't know if it is non-proft, but I was coming from the stance that it was a recreational activity for children in the area... And come to think of it, can adults ride too? Now THAT would be fun. 4042 BMX Bash!!
I agree and you were just pointing out the rule and not being ugly, but I have a soft spot for newbies and I know this guy wasn't trying to pull one over on webbie.
you just sound crotchety now. how many threads have there been with people wanting to know where they can take their kids in the area??
I'm pretty sure his original thread did say it was for kids and adults. Never been, so not sure, but I think my kids would love to go. My son used to race go karts there, but the owners never made anyone follow the rules, and we got sick of it, so quit going... As for this owner, I say leave the poor guy alone (and no, I have no idea who he is). The owner (or manager, whoever) for TAG auto was on here advertising his free lunch for last weekend and no one jumped down his throat, and we all know what the free lunch was about...drumming up more business. Come on, you all know it, why else do it? It's a nice gesture, and smart business move, but that's why they did it - duh! And yes, GCAA comes on looking for more kids, volunteers, coaches, etc. No one jumps down their throats. And I'm sure there are plenty more I can't think of right now that do the same thing...All you have to do is simply point them to the Rules thread or whatever it's called, or politely tell them, you can't post that here, you have to post that on classifieds, or pay for advertising, don't be so mean all the time!!
:iagree: Oh, but don't ya see, some on here don't know any other way but to be condescending and rude. All the guy needed was for someone to politely direct him to where he needed to post this and where the rules are, but oh no we have to be a smart tail, rude and starting bashing as is the usually, mostly from the testosterone pool.
Plays right into my Milwaukee Roots! Convinced my Mother to sell my accordion after the third lesson! :jester:
Why a troll? Seriously, I can't recall this person as a troll, but maybe I just need my memory refreshed.
I'm in, I'm in !! I used to love to ride BMX as a kid. My BMX race bike got stollen YEARS ago, but I still get on skateboards once in a while and do tricks. Its a really nice looking track, I am gonna have to check it out closely sometime. Ya'll thought of running offroad R/C cars on it ? I bet there would be a pretty good market for that sort of thing.
i personally didn't see the tag auto thing, but i find it hard to believe that nobody gave him a hard time. not saying it didn't happen, just sounds like one that fell through the cracks. especially if he was just "offering to share the free food with the community for their own benefit, with no ulterior motives". remember when the little group of shop owners at a little part of 40/42 came in and started "innocently" telling everyone about each others' business as if they were just random people trying to help out the rest of us by letting us know about this great thing for the community? they were shredded and thrown to the wolves by a large number of people... if gcaa is asking for volunteers, i'd bet they're a non-profit just like pop warner. if somebody starts a thread saying "what is there to do for kids around here?" and somebody tells them about the bmx joint, that's what the board is for. if you're going to make money off of the enterprise, and you come in here saying you're "just letting people know", and "doing it for the good of the community" blah blah blah, you should be called on it. imnsho
