KDsGrandma...are there other links that can confirm or deny the questions surrounding Obama's family and childhood? I'd be more than happy to read it. I guess you may notice that I left the door open on the childhood documents in my post, however a lot more questions than answers have been given for me to be satisfied.

An official document isn't good enough for you, is it?

If, using that official a document, one were to apply for federal aid, a US passport, etc...and it was false, that would subject the person rendering that document to federal charges. And we know that the Karl Rovian philosophy would have ensured that the first sympathetic federal agency would have arrested Obama as soon as they could. But, nope, you can't find that sort of crap, so you infer things about his religious beliefs. You infer and predict what he will do, when he becomes the POTUS. You, my Christina friend, have cast aspersions about his character, and have maligned his good name. You are judging the Christianity of a professed Christian. What about your belief about letting the first without sin to cast the first stone., or judging lest ye not be judged. You talk the talk. Where's the walk?

For all we know, you could be on those illegals for whom Sheriff B has a case of tumescence. Yet, without even asking for a copy of anything from you, this community accepts you as bona fide.

Maybe Sara Palin is a secret commie sympathizer. She looked into Russia. She's got foreign service credentials that show less involvement with foreign affairs than some sailors on their 2nd liberty in the port of Hong Kong. Yet, you hold her out to be credible.

Again, Hatteras you answer my questions with more pointed questions. You make the assumption that I have seen all these documents that you have on file that prove Obama is what he says he is. Please provide a link and I'll be happy to review it.

I do contend that he is not a true Christian. The CORE belief of Christianity is the faith in Jesus as THE Way, THE Truth and THE Life. That's John 14:6. Jesus says that no one come to the Father except by Him. Obama seems to think that there are many ways to heaven. This is America, he is free to believe what he wishes, however in making that statement, he lessens God's gift to mankind that we as CHRISTIANS are suppose to accept in faith. Spin that as religious intolerance all you want. That God's plan of salvation. Read the Bible. Jesus was the final atonement for sin. Only God could take the punishment for sin away but He did so through the Son. Christians accept this on faith that Jesus was the ONLY way to bridge the chasm back to God.

Now if you are not a Christian, than I don't expect you to accept that. However, if you believe the Bible to be God's Word, than Obama as a "Christian" contradicts Scripture. So, I'm sorry if that seems harsh or intolerant but I'll take God's Word over Obama's.

However, again this always takes the turn toward religion. As it was said earlier in this topic and by Usama Dukdok who honestly I've never heard of before until watching the video, I don't discount the fact that many muslims wish to live in peace. Others within their own faith wish us to live in pieces and its those I have a problem with. My problem with Obama is exactly what religion does he worship? He apparently has a watered-down vision of Christianity. He has a muslim background. His church borders on cult-like adhering themselves to liberation theology. You tell me what he believes?

Do you hold President Bush to the same standard, since he believes there are other ways to heaven? How about Rev. Billy Graham?

    ready2cmyKing,

    Four words...

    What Would Jesus Do?

Do you honestly and truly believe you are doing the Christian thing in propagating this irrational (and unsubstantiated) hatred for your fellow man?

Well, Clif...I can't speak for Ready, however I believe the statement would be better worded as "What Would Jesus Say?" He'd probably say something like this...

All men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honourth not the Son honourth not the Father which hath sent him. John 5:23

Ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 8:24

Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are. Luke 13:24-25

As C.S. Lewis came to realize you cannot merely count Jesus as a wise teacher. You either must accept him or reject him because if you trust him, you trust that he is the Christ and the Son. Obama isn't an evangelist and really should not speak as one. He has stated that there are more ways to God and as a Christian--if you believe the Bible--that simply cannot be so.

Yes, and he would also say things like:
"Judge not, that ye be not judged"
    Matthew 7:1

    And

"So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."
    John 8:7

Speaking for myself, I only inquire of his intentions. I do not judge. God will do that justly.

So, what are his intentions? He's been running for almost a year now. I find it difficult to imagine that you are just now inquiring of his intentions.

And what do those intentions that you have found have to do with whether or not he is Muslim? You certainly wouldn't suggest that, if he were Muslim, then his intentions would be bad (or even good), since that would be judging him.

Not being a christian, would someone please tell me what documentation there is for said religion? I think birth cert states religion, but beyond that what is there? Are you presented a plaque when you get baptized or something?

You accept your religion in your heart as a Christian. There are many denominations that make up Christianity and you join that church to become a member but to become a Christian you accept Jesus Chirst as your Lord and Savoir, believe he died for our sins and rose on the 3rd day and confess that with your mouth. I have no clue about the other religions.

Do dog tags from the military still have it on their tags? I know my dads had his religion on his tags?

The birth certificate won't say what religion the child is. It may or may not say what religion the parents are.

You are not baptized into a religion, although the baptism may be sponsored by a specific religion. As a side note, when I became an adult I eschewed Catholicism (for my own reasons). Of course this led to a heated debate with my Mother who insisted that I was "baptized Catholic" and so could not change religions. I insisted that, although I was baptized in a Catholic church, the baptismal certificate did not label me as a Catholic. She stared at the certificate for over an hour before she finally had to agree.

Religion can enter the political debate when churches start paying taxes. PERIOD

    People,

I think Jester and I agree on this. It isn't about "religion" as much as it's about freedom of lifestyle. The Muslim lifestyle is very different than ours. As a Judeo-Christian nation, we are built on freedom, and as individuals we all have the freedom to choose almost anything. Almost every one of us have had that freedom since we were born, and I think we take our freedom for granted.

John McCain may be a Christian, he may not, I don't know. What I do know about him and what is really important here, is that he wants to protect and defend the Judeo-Christian foundation this country operates under. He has proven that with his military track record and with his many years serving in Washington. Obama has not, IMO, proven his faithfulness to the American way. He has Muslim roots. He professes to be a Christian now, sure, but just what if he gets in the White House and then decides that he would like to change his religious affiliation to Islam? Free country, free religion, what's to stop him? That might not be a problem for us in this generation, but what might it cause to future generations if a Muslim president starts changing laws that affect the freedom that we've always known? Could it lead us to the same place Europe is now?

Radical Islam is not about individual freedom. Muslim's live their religion, it affects everything. Radical Muslims want to conquer and rule the entire world under Islamic law. Europe is learning this the hard way now. Do you not think that the same kinds of Muslim terrorists that blew up the World Trade center and have caused havoc in other countries are living in this country now? Why wouldn't they be, the managed to do it for years before 9/11. They're not stupid, they know how to blend in until the time is right to show their true colors. You don't think they would rally behind a United States President with a Muslim name and heritage? If you don't think that, maybe you should watch Pastor Dakdok's messages, or watch them again. Those people hate us because they consider us infidels. And don't you think they are going to do whatever they can to get a foothold in this country?

I'm sorry, there are just too many important questions left unanswered or left in a confused state for me to be at all comfortable with Obama running this country. I hope and pray that he is not elected.

Please read more about and learn more about Islam here.

Sorry, but do you have even a basic idea on who "changes" law in this country? If voters think that a "muslim" president could start changing law without Congressional approval and review by the Judicial branch, then I guess we really have more problems with our educational system than I even thought.

I'm not supporting Obama because I don't want to see the size of government increase more than it has already bloated up the last eight years. With a President and a Congress of the same party, that is exactly what you're going to get. But I'm not so narrow minded as to think this his religion or lack thereof should influence my decision. It is as foolish to say that a "muslim" president could change the Constitutional freedoms by himself as to say that a "fundamentalist" president could outlaw abortion by himself.

And both sides, conservative and liberals, need to either quit spreading that BS or learn basic civics lessons.
