Can we make this a thread for the 2009 Football season?

Just to let anyone who is interested know, Mally Umphrey #21 will be out 1-2 games. Also James King who plays center broke his hand, so he will be out for a while.

The next game is Friday 9/26 @ Holly Springs.

    Let's go support our Wildcats!!!!

Yes, I wanted to start a NEW one for this season. You have to go through a couple of pages. It's old.

    Give it up for West!

    Next game is Holly Springs..........................

    West Johnston is 5-0.

After starting the season with four straight road games – and wins – the Wildcats beat Garner 20-13 Friday in their first home game of the season, which was also the conference opener for both teams.

West’s unbeaten start is a minor surprise on a couple fronts. First, they were 13-32 the previous four seasons. Last year, when they went 7-5 (6-1 in conference) and qualified for the playoffs for the first time, was their best season in school history.

But the way this team has started is most surprising given what happened in the two weeks leading up to this season. In mid-July, Kwame Dixon resigned as the team’s after four seasons. Eric Pulling was named the interim coach. Two weeks later, two days before the start of practice, Bennett Jones was named the Wildcats new head coach.

While there’s still lots of football to be played, you’ve got to like the Wildcats chances of being undefeated going into the Nov. 7 regular-season finale at Southeast Raleigh. Here’s what the next seven weeks looks like for the Wildcats: at Holly Springs (1-4), against East Wake (1-4), against Clayton (1-4), OPEN, at Knightdale (2-3), against Smithfield-Selma (4-1), at Southeast Raleigh (4-1).

If West and Southeast run the Greater Neuse table, then that’ll be quite a showdown for the league title on Nov. 7.
