Today our oldest child, a son, leaves for basic training at Fort Jackson, SC. They do grow up fast. For some time he has wanted to serve his country and community, and now he has the chance. We will miss him for the next several weeks...
I'm so sorry for you that he's going to the god awful state of SC.:jester: But seriously, thank you to him for serving his country. I hope that knowing his fulfillment of his dream to serve his country helps your feeling of loss while he's gone.
That's great to hear - I hope this will be good thing for "J". 8) My dd saw him at school (at orientation during the day) and said she thought he was getting ready to go into the Army.
Congratulations and sincere thanks to your son for his service. I remember when my son went off to basic training, it was much harder on me than when I did that myself, and harder on me really than when my husband pulled unaccompanied tours. But we got through it, and you will too. I know you are proud of him, and rightfully so.
Thank him for stepping forward to serve his country. I look forward to welcoming him as a comrade in arms. Go Army! Beat Navy!
That is WONDERFUL!! Thank you, your son, and your family for doing this for our country!! Good luck to him at Basic!! Carol
Thanks to your son! I went to Ft. Jackson for basic as well and it was not as bad as I thought. There is alot of sand and heat (I went from May-August). Church in the Army was always the best! If he is interested at all, I absolutely loved going to church at Ft. Jackson and it helped me get through the hard times. Best of luck to him!
This is "J", ECAVE's son Thanx to all you for your support, and i look forward to serving my country!! Special thanx to BIGUNCFAN for your encouragement about my lil trip to SC! lol i got a kick out of that! Special thanx to you MAMAAPE for the encouragement about church at Ft. Jackson. I needed that, im going to miss my church family BADLY while im gone, so hopefully i can find solace in my church family at Ft. Jackson!! Much love, and Thax to all, Pvt C.
Hey dude, be careful and take care of yourself. If you ever get deployed, mark some of your bullets with "40/42" when you take out those Taliban, they'll known JoCo didn't take no crap.
God bless your son and you guys too for standing behind him and supporting him! He is a true American Hero to serve his country for us and our freedoms and the freedoms of others! Please know that I will be praying for him and his borthers and sisters in the field! You guys rock!!!!8) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, Pvt. C just left with his recruiter. Thanks for all of the support from you guys and gals. The wife and DD already are missing him. Of course I do too. I am a little jealous he is going. I never got the chance having a back injury at an early age. I'll keep you informed from time to time. Thanks again.
Please thank him for serving our contry on my behalf. I completed basic training at Ft. Jackson in 1958. He is going to Ft. Jackson at a good time. Not too hot. The summer is murder there.
God Bless your son and your family as you begin this journey. Please give him my thanks for stepping up to the plate and serving his country! With thanks -- a PROUD NAVY MOM!
Sorry... I forgot to respond to everyone. Thanks again to everyone for showing support. I expect it to be a few days until I hear from him again. It shure is quiet around my house....
