I like Sarah Palin but see her trying everything possible to avoid the media, that makes me have a second thought of her. Like today, she was in NY meeting foreign leaders but doesn't want journalists inside, reporters were actually banned from the start of the meetings to stop them from asking questions of Palin....I can see that she's very comfortable giving a stump speech, so why can't she handle the press the same way?
I wouldn't be surprised if it's that the media is notorious for slanting and distorting facts. I think the piece on our sheriff is proof of that. Mike
What did they report that was not factual? Dude, Bizzell apologized for those remarks. No where, no time did Bizzell claim he was misquoted. McCain's campaign is afraid of revealing how just little Palin is prepared for the job. And, rather than allow reporter access to confirm the suspicion that she is a mental lightweight, they try to control the media access. If you've got nothing to hide, why hide? Not up to the job. And with McCain's health, you should be concerned.
Yes, with McCain's health, this is a concern. I personally believe that he is too old and will not serve out his term if he get elected. And Sarah will become president...but with all the respect I think she is too fragile for the job. I wish he had picked Romney instead.
After the way she was treated by Charlie Gibson, I can clearly see why they don't want her hounded by the media. Charlie did everything he could to try and trip her up or get her to admit that she was not ready to be VP. He should be ashamed of himself. Charlie would not have asked Obama or Biden those kinds of questions and he certainly would not have put that kind of pressure on them by repeatedly asking the same questions. The media is totally biased and is trying to do everything in their power to get Obama elected. Her lack of willingness to grant media access has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not she is ready for the job. I wouldn't grant interviews, etc to the enemy either.
Charlie Gibson would not have been doing his job if he had not asked her hard questions. He certainly would have, and has, asked hard questions of all the candidates he has interviewed, and it is his job to press them for an answer, not let them avoid the question. Do we, the voters, not have the right to hear what the candidates have to say about the issues before we vote? Or should we just trust McCain's judgment and not ask Palin any questions?
Me too In fact, I wish Romney would have been the pick for president - I would have taken him any day over McCain!!
She is allowing photograhers and ONE television crew from the media in from what the news said last night??
Then he wasn't doing his job when he interviewed Mr. Obama. Let's take a look at those "hard-hitting questions" that he won't allow to be avoided, shall we? How does it feel to break a glass ceiling? How does it feel to "win"? How does your family feel about your "winning" breaking a glass ceiling? Who will be your VP? Should you choose Hillary Clinton as VP? Will you accept public finance? What issues is your campaign about? Will you visit Iraq? Will you debate McCain at a town hall? What did you think of your competitor's [Clinton] speech? Oh, just for comparison, let's look at the questions asked of Ms. Palin: Do you have enough qualifications for the job you're seeking? Specifically have you visited foreign countries and met foreign leaders? Aren't you conceited to be seeking this high level job? Questions about foreign policy -territorial integrity of Georgia -allowing Georgia and Ukraine to be members of NATO -NATO treaty -Iranian nuclear threat -what to do if Israel attacks Iran -Al Qaeda motivations -the Bush Doctrine -attacking terrorists harbored by Pakistan Is America fighting a holy war? [misquoted Palin]
And do you suppose the treatment she'll receive from other foreign leaders is going to be so lighthearted and non controversial. If a significant number of the US voting population has no respect for her foreign service skills and exposure or that an equivalent number of US voters think that she is no more than window dressing for McCain's campaign, what kind of respect will she garner from world leaders? I look at examples like Indira Gandhi or Golda Meir. Mrs. Palin is nowhere close to being in their league as those who would lead a nation. If her capabilities are there, then she should welcome the scrutiny. She's got nothing, and is trying to hide that. Whenever did you hear of a politician at any level, much less seeking the White House not engaging with the press or media. McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden try to control it on their own terms. The media has the responsibility to ask the hard questions. The McCain campaign hasn't responded to my emails and requests for substantive answers on serious subjects. McCain hasn't conducted a press conference, where he'd take any questions from the reporters, in 42 days. Obama has done 2 in less than a week. Apparently, Obama is willing to talk to the media, and through them, the voters. I guess McCain wants us to just trust him. Not gonna happen.
The good kind, according to what I've been reading. And you think Mr. Obama (or even Mr. McCain) are equal to Churchill or FDR?' Speaking of which, you seem to doubt that the world would accept a woman leader. Why makes you think the world will accept a black leader any better? I'm not saying one way or the other, just pointing out that the world is just as racist as they are misogynist. And if the liberal media is out to destroy your reputation, what then? Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr. Most presidents don't like the media, and few openly welcome the scrutiny they offer. Funny you should mention that. The Obama campaqign has refused to reply to my emails requesting clarification on their positions. It's really odd, you'd think they would make time for a voter. So, he's a camera hound.
Well, fancy that, they changed the link (and story) on me. Here's the original LINK. Relavent quotes: And
