When a Christian dares to stand up and say something is right because God's Word says it is right, or dares to stand up and say something is wrong because the Word says so, then he or she had better start looking for all the arrows that are going to start flying at him/her. I've been hollered at on this board before. I've been called names and mocked before. Doesn't surprise me since Jesus Himself said I would be despised for His name's sake.

As a Christian I have a right to make judgments, based on God's Word.

Ready, here's another one that has meant so much to our whole family over the past couple of years with the way things have been around here.

    Jesus said:

"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as it's own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you." (John 15:18-19)

"But this is to fulfill what is written in their law: 'They hated me without reason.'" (John 15:25)

You better believe our kids have learned some very tough life lessons and these scriptures have helped us to explain how people whom you have never wronged can literally hate you and even wish you dead.:?

I promise you that if you bumped into me at the grocery store and didn't know who I was you would not know anything about my faith, because it's not something I wear on my sleeve. I don't carry a Bible every where I go (and I don't ever recall thumping one either.) But I'm not going to roll over and play dead when it comes to my faith. I believe what I believe... I believe the truth of God's Word... and I'm not going to apologize for it.

You're not despised at all Ready. If you'd take a true look at some of your posts without the Baptist goggles you wear, I hope you could realize that they say your "way" is THE way and any other way is not THE way. What if you rededicated your life during Mass in 1997, or during a Saturday service in a 7th Day Adventist Church, or during services at a Church of Latter Day Saint's service? You only believe what you've been taught for the last 11 years. I know the passage says something to the effect of, "I am the Way, the Truth and Light" right? Those mountain pentacostals that take that one scripture, "take up serpents" and handle snakes believe they are doing what the Bible says too. I'm not saying go out support Gay marriage or go to Texas and let your 12 yr old daughter be married to a senior citizen, I'm saying you've got to realize YOUR beliefs aren't the only way to Heaven.

I have never ONCE seen an instance where someone has said or even implied that they hate or wish anyone dead because of their beliefs on this board. If so, please quote it because that would have been a huge oversight. Maybe you're talking about your experiences outside of the board, but just wanted to clarify.

And does anyone know if the Muslim faith has this sort of idea of how they know that people who have never wronged them hate them and want them dead because of their faith and they are okay with it because they are strong in their own faith? Just wondering.

Right, and I'm saying I can compromise on a lot (Communion, etc), but on this,
    I can not.

I am not arguing either, I am honestly trying to figure out your thought proccess on this? I do not understand that Fishon Fridays in financial, I generally eat El Dorado on Fridays! :)
However, I KNOW there is a God, I have seen his good deeds in my life and even Clif believes that. I do not need a person that studies Science to tell my about my Saving Father. So that is why I think it is sad.
I donot get why everyone has to read Ready's post, and sometimes mine, mags, and a few other "sisters" on here as HATE filled. That is sad too, because if you were filled with God's love you would understand that it is us only trying to say how wonderful it is to be a Christian! I do not think that because I am a Baptist, and my sister/brother are Methodist that I am the only one going to heaven! There are MANY denominations that make up Christians!

Yes, I was not talking about the board, I was speaking to Ready because she knows of my situation. Guess it did sound unclear - thanks for bringing that to my attention.:)

Don't know but I, as a Christian, do not hate them, nor do I wish them all dead. I suppose I could imagine the parents or wife or children of a young soldier blown up by a Muslim suicide bomber in the name of "Allah" ....they might struggle with hating Muslims and wishing them dead. They are only human after all.

This would most certainly be an instance where I would have to just pray for forgiveness for my hate, because I would (but that would go for anyone who might take a loved one's life).

I'm not a theology professor or anything (and I didn't play one on t.v. either) but when Jesus died on the cross and the temple curtain was torn in two (by God), that was God's way of saying that there was no long any intercession needed between man and God apart from Jesus Christ Himself. If you remember, the Jews could not enter the inner part of the temple, the Holy of Holies, and approach God. They had to have a high priest enter, approach God, and intercede for them. When the veil was torn, God was saying that the old way was finished and man is now free to approach Him through Jesus because Jesus' death and resurrection did away with the sacrifical law. It also opened up salvation to the Gentile world. That is why Jesus instructed us to pray "in His name"... He is our High Priest. He intercedes for us at God's right hand. I do not need to confess before a man, I can get on my knees and confess my sins directly to my Lord.

I can't answer for a Catholic on that question because I do not understand the need for a priest when Jesus Himself is ready, willing and able to hear our confessions.

I just wanted to put you to work a little bit this afternoon Ready. Don't take everything so serious. Your heart rate is way high and you're almost out of Diet Coke.

Don't take it so personal. That is the problem with a lot of people and they take every thing so personal. She does not understand and nor do I understand that why Catholics not just you but Catholics go to a preist to confess instead of speaking to Jesus directly. Use this time for educational regards instead of thinking you are being baited????

Agreed! That is a tough one to forgive; only God can help in that case.

Um, religion is the most personal thing, which is why you and Ready feel so strongly about defending yours. It just sounded to me like it was "I don't know why they do it that way when the way we do it is the better way".
