    Hi,

My dog just went to the vets to get neutered. They kept him overnight. Everything is fine except he sounds like he has laryngitis! I was wondering if anyone experienced this and if there was anything I could do for him.

    Thanks,

    Gia

He may be hoarse from the vent (tube down throat) used during the surgery. I know humans suffered vocal irritation from this. Give your vet a call to see if there is anything you can do. I'm not sure what to do for a pup, but I know with humans gargling with salt water is recommended and sipping hot tea w/ honey and lem,on has helped. Neither of these is an option for a canine, obviously! :)

We had a schipperke once that just barked himself hoarse while at a boarding facility ... he literally had no voice for days. He just had to stay quiet for a few days and he got his voice back. (The boarding facility also asked us not to bring him back because of the ruckus he caused.) The vet told us there was nothing we could do for him, for his 'sore throat' - it was strained muscles, or something (it was about 20 years ago, so I just vaguely remember).

Gia, If you haven't already, please call your vet. It could also be bronchitis/pneumonia. Let us know.

My Muffin can do that anytime..she bark so much she gets horse. Stupid but ture. All vocal cords work in pretty much the same way.
