We to took the flumist route...hopfully its as effective as the needle. The nurse brought it to our attention about the flumist. Its age 2 and up.

My 10 year old only needed one dose but my 7 year old is scheduled for a second dose next week. Might want to check on it, just in case. Maybe what your ped's office uses is different than what my ped's office uses. :?

The first time mine got the shots one bawled like it was the end of the world and the other was convinced he'd never walk again!

    We'll stick with mist LOL

Mine is Capitol Peds... hmmm, I think I'd give them a call and ask if I were you.

BTW, how did they do with it? Were they happy it didn't involve a needle? Mine said it was yucky but since they got vaccine boosters that day, they were very happy they weren't having to take a THIRD needle with their flu vaccine.

When the nurse gave us that option....I freaked because i didn't know which one to pick....luckly my DH was with me and said lets see how they do with the mist. They are 3 and 4 so they really don't like anything that touches them especially by doctors and nurses. :). We had to hold them down but when it was done...they were like....it didn't hurt. We thought we did them a favor by giving them mist and not the needle.

I will call now and see what the say.

    Ok..I called

If the child has never recieved any kind of flu vaccine before choosing the mist...than they need a second doze.

Aha... mine have never gotten a flu vaccine before so that explains it. Well that's good for your kids (girls, right?) then! My kids have never had the flu before and I can't remember the last time I had it... if I've ever had it before...:?

Tell you what though, if my kids get the flu this year, they will NEVER get the vaccine again!

I have been skeptical to....but so far they haven't gotten really sick except for runny nose and a slight coughing.
