Has anyone ever taken scrap metal to sell? do you have to strip down to just the metal or do they take anything and strip it down. I have an old-pop up camper that I want to get rid of and keep hearing that scrap metal is high but don't know anyone who has taken it in. what kinds of things do that take? i have an old washer/dryer , old water heater that I keep thinking i will take to the dump but never have.
Hope these help http://www.raleighscrapmetalrecycling.com/what-we-buy.html http://www.ncscrapmetal.com/
You can do it either way. Mostly I just let them take mine (the guys that pick it up rarely pay much if anything for it), cause its a pain to load it up and take it in for a few dollars. You can look on here, Craigslist, etc for the phone numbers to have them come pick it up. Or I just met a guy yesterday that will pick it up in the area... His name is Russ 868-3305. Cant say if he is any good or not, just met and talked to him for like 5 minutes, but he seems like a nice guy.
i have an old craftsman riding lawn mower that I need to get rid of. Motor is blown and the tires are flat. and would love to get it off my property. Its up on blocks right now and makes my drive way look a bit red neckish.
I wonder if it would either qualify for Jeff Foxworthy's redneck yard or the one on HGTV where they come and do a neighbors yard that is nasty
To answer your question. yes they will take it as long has there is no lead. Now if you are looking to get any type of money in return. It would need to be stripped down. They pay higher for clean steel, clean aluminum and clean copper example copper wire usually goes for $1.00-$1.40 a pound. if you clean the wire so it just bare copper it goes for around $3.00 a pound.
If you're able, drain the fluids and run it over to TT&E in Garner. Get a little money for it. When I worked for Glass Doctor, we loaded up an S10 with some scap aluminium from a store front we rebuilt and got over $300 for it. Mike
