If you lost your voter registration card, do you still need it to vote or can they just verify you by your driver's liscense?
The voter registration card is for your information, you don't need it to vote. If you have never voted before, they may ask for picture ID, like your NCDL or state issued ID card.
Going to sound stupid here and please NO ONE get on my case but I have never voted before. I know, I know. Anyhow, I was registered a long time ago in Clayton. Live in the Cleveland area now. DOes it matter what polling center you go to? I really want to vote in this election but feel really stupid not knowing this stuff. I am NOT smarter than a 5th grader today--LOL. Thanks in advance. And registering to vote once is all you needed to do, correct? Want to make sure when I go on Tuesday that I'm counted. Hey, every vote counts, right? Thanks. Stephanie--mom to 7
You probably need to do the early voting since you have not voted in so long your registration may not be any good and you will have to re-register. As long as you live in JoCo you can go to any early site!
Right! Exactly! Bring your NCDL and proof of residence. http://www.sboe.state.nc.us/content.aspx?ID=32
Okay, I went to the website adn it says C3 Church is the polling place. However, is that also an early polling place as well in case I need to re-register as someone said? If not, where is there an early polling place to vote around this area? I looked on the site but did not see. Thanks again for answering all the questions. stephanie--mom to 7
No, for early voting there are just 3 sites in Johnston County, and you can go to any one of them. The closest one to you is probably the Cleveland campus of JCC, right across from DR Wells and the Fire Station on Cleveland Rd. The other two are the Church at Clayton Crossing, on HWY 70 in Clayton where the old Winn Dixie store was, and the Town Hall in Smithfield. You can register and vote at the Cleveland or Clayton location from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm today or tomorrow, or 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday. If you found your name on theweb site, then your registration is still valid, and you can vote on election day at your regular polling place. I would recommend early voting anyway, just to avoid long lines on election day.
