Sacosta, I have stated here before that I do not blame these folks for coming here to have a better life for them and their children. I would do the same in their position. However, that does not make it right! They are actually encouraged by their own govt to come here and given flyers with specific instructions on how to do it. My issue is the blind eye our govt is turning to the situation due to the cheap labor they provide, the drain on our resources, the crime, and general disrespect for our way of life. I blame our govt, not the illegals, but I am not rolling out the red carpet either. It sucks all the way around.
Hell you look close enough you can find some of those in the USA. And why do we need to stop that, it's the responsibility of the Mexican population and their Government not so much ours.
not incl Dui's how many are breaking the law by driving unlicensed and uninsured vehicles, thats illegal.
Okay, I'm a bit confused here. If they are illegal immigrants, then aren't every single one of them breaking the law just by being here?
That picture represents the root cause of our illegal immigration problem, and until it’s addressed poor Mexicans will continue to pour across our borders. You can’t build fences high enough to keep people from trying to escape those miserable conditions. You’re right, technically it’s not our problem; it’s Mexico’s problem. But we are the one’s paying the price. Our government has a lot of influence over Mexico’s government, and I think it’s high time that we start pressuring them to do something to help their poor.
The majority of your post is simply not true. We have ZERO influence over Mexico. We are exploiting their poor and they are more than happy to ship them here, as they do not have the social programs we do and do not want to be bothered with them. They are also shipping their drugs here, heck they are even growing them in our national parks.
Let’s say we put an embargo or a high tariff on all agricultural products produced in Mexico until they started to address this. You don't think that would get their attention?
Then they certainly wouldn't have money to do anything. Also lets be fair why don't you post pictures of cozumel, and all these other areas of beauty that they have.
It's not that I don't sympathize with their plight, but we have neighborhoods all of this country where rats are getting into babies' cribs and people live in high rise apartments with no working elevators. Our government needs to focus on helping those people and those neighborhoods before we start pouring money into illegal immigration.
Oh I could post pictures of Cozumel, but that's where the tourist hangout. Drive 5 minutes outside of Cozumel and you'll see the places where the locals live, and amazingly enough they look just like the picture that I posted. The first time I saw this first hand I was shocked beyond belief, it's appalling.
Oh it would get their attention, but not the kind of attention we want. America needs to stop thinking it is the end all be all for other nations... Look at Russia. We need to handle this issue inhouse, and not try to force others to bend to our will. So you enforce an embargo or high tariff AND force them to take care of their poor, second class citizens? There, you just single-handedly bankrupted the country of Mexico - or the rest of the world that tries to visit for a little R&R.
I agree with you. We definitely have our own problems to take care of, but unfortunately illegal immigration is also a problem for us. I’m just stating that poverty in Mexico is the cause of illegal immigration.
So meanwhile they bankrupt us by sending us all of their poor. So, there’s no resolution? We just have to take it?
The resolution is to close the borders, round them up/deport them, and stop catering to them. You know, enforce the laws we already have in place... But we can't do that thanks to bleeding hearts, opportunists, and those concerned with winning the world popularity contest. Your solution is to hit Mexico's wallet to force them to care for their own citizens? Ain't gonna happen.
As long as there is extreme mass poverty in Mexico they will find their way back across the border, and the opportunists that want cheap labor will hire them. Simply deporting them will never work.
