I have done a search looking for the threads that have been on here before about quiting. I know you guys that have stopped had this web site or something that showed what you where saving ect. Can anyone share that with me? The company that I work for will be stopping smoking in their stores (break areas inside) do to the fact that our insurance premiums are going way up. They have a program that if we sign up for it gives us a lower premiums on our health insurance. I would normally pay out 53 bucks a paycheck, but if I do this program to stop smoking then it's on 31 bucks a paycheck. Plus they will give us 500 dollars towards helping us stop. Both me and my sister work for the same company and we are both going to do it. So any info would be helpful. Thanks! Sheri
it's the 'quitkeeper' http://www.dedicateddesigns.com/qk/download.htm good luck to you!! it's hard, but so worth it!! here are my stats! I have been quit for 2 Years, 3 Months, 3 Weeks, 5 Days, 11 hours, 2 minutes and 24 seconds (849 days). I have saved $1,524.77 by not smoking 8,494 cigarettes. Good luck! It was the hardest, but best thing I ever did. I had insomnia for a few days during withdrawal, that was the worst. I could not work out the way I do now if I were still a smoker. Here are my stats: I have been quit for 6 Years, 10 Months, 5 Days, 3 minutes and 46 seconds (2,501 days). I have saved $6,565.12 by not smoking 37,515 cigarettes. I have saved 4 Months, 1 Week, 3 Days, 6 hours and 15 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 12/29/2001 7:39 AM Edited to add: I need to have your dog.
Thanks for the link and I will share it with my sister as well. She has tried several times, but I have never tried. My daughter complains all the time about me smoking so I know she will be thrilled. I'm also thinking about taking the money that I would spend on ciggs and putting it aside for something special for me and her. I don't have a quit day yet, cause I haven't called yet to start the program, but I have to by Jan 1st 09. That is when my insurance goes in affect. I might not wait to do it, I have to talk to my sister cause we are doing it together. Sheri
Thanks, but that is what I'm worried about the most, I'm doing it cause I have to, not cause I want to. There is a difference when you want to. I have to be thankful that I don't smoke a lot a pack would last me almost 2 days. Where most smoke a pack or more a day. I don't know if that will help me or not, I hope so..that and I have never smoked in the house always outside, and with the cold weather coming my help me as well. Sheri
I used wellbutrin (instead of the Zyban that insurance doesnt cover) with the help of my doctor. This was after trying everything else under the sun to quit. It was still difficult, but I craved less and the cigarettes tasted bad when I did try one with the wellbutrin. I have been smoke free for 5 years 6th months and am not even close to being tempted anymore. Good luck...it's tough but you can do it!!!!
I have not had a cigarette in over 4 years. It was the most difficult thing I have ever done. I tried all the different approaches (patch, pills, gum, etc). The way I quit was I set a date...Sept 27, 2004. That was my quit date. The night before my quit date, I smoked every cigarette I had and threw away all my lighters, ashtrays, etc. When I woke up on my quit date, I told myself that I could not have anymore cigarettes. It was very difficult. By lunch time, I was ready to give up, but I decided if I could just make it through the day, I would be OK. When I got home, I went to bed.... I proved to myself that I could live a day without a cigarette. The next day was pretty hard too, but I figured if I could go one day without smoking, surely I could go for 2. Two days turned into three....and so on. You really do have to take it one day at a time. And you cannot ever have another cigarette...ever. You can do it....it is definitely a mind over matter sort of thing.
Quitting is the right choice. I still get tempted, but there is no way I would ever start smoking again! (I do like to inhale some second hand smoke when I'm drinking, but hey...)
I have been quit for 1 Year, 2 Weeks, 3 Days, 19 hours, 50 minutes and 43 seconds (383 days). I have saved $1,727.21 by not smoking 7,676 cigarettes. I have saved 3 Weeks, 5 Days, 15 hours and 40 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 10/16/2007 2:10 PM
I took Chantix in January and quit after 3 weeks...Everyone I know that has taken it has quit. I am thrilled and havent looked back! Good Luck! I have been quit for 9 Months, 2 Weeks, 2 minutes and 3 seconds (288 days). I have saved $971.99 by not smoking 5,184 cigarettes. I have saved 2 Weeks and 4 Days of my life. My Quit Date: 1/20/2008 11:22 AM
wow good for all of you that can stop smoking , I wish i could but i guess im really not ready otherwise i would . GREAT JOB ALL !!!!
I second Chantix, my fiance used it and it worked wonderfully for him. He did say that he had really strange dreams.
My FIL has quit smoking for just over a year now, and he used Chantix too. I do remember him saying, other being a bit irritable in the beginning, the only real side effect he noticed was very vivid & strange dreams. Good Luck!
quitting smoking Definitely try the Welbutrin - also known as Buproprion (generic), it works wonders - I PM'd you info.
DH tried Wellbutrin (didn't work) Chantix (worked while he was on it, didn't when he wasn't-made him crabby and gained 35 pounds) He still smokes I got hypnotized when I found out I was pregnant (a little over 8 years ago) and haven't smoked since. Good luck! It is the hardest thing I ever tried to do. Took me 4 tries.
