Since I am not originally from around here....what exactly is a turkey shoot. Do we shoot turkeys?????? LOL sorry for a dumb ?
Well, unless things have changed since I was a kid it's a target competition. You pay a small fee for a chance to win............a turkey.
My ds thought the same thing when he went to his first one and was dissapointed when he didnt see any.
:lol:No, we shoot targets and the closest to the bulls eye wins the turkey they also shoot for ham, sausage, tenderloin ,sometimes money The turkey shoot at the Coats farm is for families,,no drinking or bad language Rostrawberry, anyone taken you snipe hunting since you moved here:mrgreen:
just like clive said, you go to the church, the range, the lodge, whomever is doing the 'turkey shoot'. they have targets lined up. you pay to shoot, usually their guns, and whoever gets the closest to the target, wins a turkey or a ham. it can be any variation of that, but thats the way they usually work. there is usually a bonfire going off to the side, hot chocolate being served. its always a good family fun time. and doesn't cost anything unless you want to shoot.
They have house guns you can use but most people bring their own guns Be prepared to shoot against special built guns that will shred the target Not right but thats the way it is, it should be stock guns against stock guns and special built against special built
