http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/3889396/ Raleigh, N.C. — The North Carolina Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in solving a fatal hit-and-run that happened Friday evening. The victim, William Joseph Ross, 41, of 11814 Possum Track Road in Raleigh, died of his injuries Saturday. The Highway Patrol said Ross was struck by a box truck/panel van that pulled into his driveway at 9:52 p.m. Friday. Before he died, Ross told authorities that he approached the passenger-side of the vehicle and knocked on its door. That's when he was struck by the vehicle while it pulled out of the driveway. Ross said the vehicle was white with the words "The Perfect Store" printed on the side. It was last seen traveling south on Possum Track Road toward Six Forks Road, authorities said. The Highway Patrol is asking anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run or might have information that could help solve this case to contact the Wake County Highway Patrol District Office at 919-733-4400.
I knew him and was shocked to hear this, we had played Golf a couple times he had I guess severe internal bleeding and lost him while operating. It goes to show that it could happen anytime, anywhere, anyplace. He was talking on his phone prior to that and told the person to hold on a truck is coming in and that he needs to let him know of some low wires hanging I guess he was then found by state trooper and was able to give description of truck. It was a shock to hear about it to say the least.
Gosh - Seabee - I'm so sorry! I wonder if the person in the truck actually realized he'd hit him? It says he knocked on the window, MAYBE the guy was already looking back and turning the wheel to back up or something and didn't realize he'd hit him? Lets at least hope it wasn't deliberate....
