Anyone use BJ's for car care or tires?

We purchased tires from them several years ago using one of their member discount coupons. We were pleased. I have heard complaints about the new company that runs the auto service department/area because of pressure put on customers for additional services. Monro Muffler/Brake Services is the name of the company that now runs BJ's auto service area. I have heard they try to sell brake jobs, mufflers, etc. that are not needed. Some of those type companies continually make national news for ripping off customers for service not needed.
But you can say no to their sales pitch.

We bought tires from the earlier this year. Felt like we got a super deal as they also had a coupon special going at that particular time. Good, quick service - no problems at all.

Great deal on our tires using one of their coupons and was very satisfied with the customer service.

We've had good service there in the past. I'm always very direct as I drop off a vehicle at a place like this about what I want and don't want them to do, before they can give me a sales pitch.

As long as you just go there for tires and leave. Disregard everythigng else the older man says. THey work on commission...so the more the do the better it is for them.
I went for tires tothe one at white oak and he tried to sell me all these parts, like a tie rod and a bunch of other stuff for the steering system. total estimate = $300. I took the car to my regular mechanic and it cost me 25 bucks to replace one little piece.

Besides that the car care place at the Cary BJ's just took a guy to court for falsifing a bill and taking the money without ever doing the work. The car care place did make good on everything but it was bad. you really have to watch .

so be sure to ask for your old parts and proof that the work was done.

Go tires there a few years ago for my van and have no complains. They honored the hazard warranty when we got something in the tire. My husband found WalMart was a better deal when he was looking for tires for his truck.

I had a similar experience. I was/am happy with the tires and they were the best deal. They did try to sell me $2000 worth of "needed services" including tie rods. I had my girls with me and the salesman was giving me a hard sell using the girls' safety as the reason I should get the work done right away. Most of the work was also service work rather than parts work, which seemed strange to me. The way he talked to made me wary, so I got estimated prices from him and then went to my mechanic. Turns out I needed a little work, but not the whole list. My mechanic did it for a more reasonable fee and confirmed that the list was mostly bogus. Morale of the story: Great for tires, but don't get other work done unless you are sure you need it and the prices are right.
