We are trying to find someplace to take our plastic and papergood for recycle and we haven't been able to locate one. Better yet, is there a company that has curbside pick up? We really want to be green!

All Johnston County Waste sites do, to the best of my knowledge. We drop our recyclables at the Barber Mill location.

P.S. You do not need a refuse sticker for recycling, just trash disposal.

We use Republic Waste Industries for our trash and recycle pick-up. Its a little more than other trash co's, but thats because most in JoCo don't pickup recyclables - they take plastic, glass and newspapers.

We take our newspapers to Cleveland Elem school. They recycle them in the front parking lot.
Plus they now recycle AL Cans too.

Waste Industries bought out Busy Bee (our provider) and if they get enough interest in the area, they said they would start curbside recycling (an extra 2.80/month, which I think is worth it). They said they can't change anything for 90 days after buying the company, but I hope they get it going. I hate that none of the garbage companies offer recycling and they closed the garbage dump at McGees. I may look into Republic.

I just can't see paying to recycle - when they are making money from recycling.

Ditto on the cans at Cleveland, also the Masonic Lodge on 50 going towards Garner has a big truck/bin on the front lawn for cans.

I'll sure pay for them to pick them up at my house....$3 convenience fee the way I see it. Convenient for me.

I totally agree with this thought. If you REALLY want me to be mindful about it then the trash companies need to provide this service for free, instead of making me pay for them to pick the recycle along with the trash, and then turning around and selling the stuff as well.

On a side note if you want me to help out with teh recycling then I also suggest you quit giving me the free paper every week that I pick-up and toss into the trash without even opening it, and stop stuffing my mailbox with those crappy flyers for this, that or the other. That head straight into the trash as well.

BTW....to American General Finance, I didn't need that $8k loan last month, nor this month nor the next so quit offering me the loan.

Another one I heard was to shred it all up, stick it in their postage-paid envelope and send it back to them. Stuff some other junk in there too, if you can fit it.

Back in April when they took over Busy Bee we called and they told us that they offered recycling. We are close to 40/42. I also heard from another poster that they have a 70+/quarter bill. We are paid through July not looking forward to the increase.

Our's is 86.00+/- quarterly with Republic Waste Services. It just went up about $1 due to the landfills charging more.

OK, I'm getting a complex about not recycling so I've been now putting all my glass, plastic and cans in a separate trash can.

This place on Barber Mill road .... does it cost to drop off recycling?? I want to do my part for the earth!!! buuuuuuutttt, I'm not paying a company to pick it up so they can make money off of it.

There is still a drop off location in McGees. They just moved it to Stephenson Rd.

No, it doesn't cost anything to drop recycling at any of the convenience sites or at the landfill, and you don't need a sticker just for recycling.

BUT - somebody told me they took aluminum cans to the one on Barber Mill Rd., and they were told to just put them in the dumpster! Has anyone else heard of that?
