The fact that this man walked on a $2500 put up is ridiculous. The judge or magistrate should have exceeded the limit on this one. The bail amount laws in NC haven't changed in 15 years. And they follow suit with the majority of all the other states. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and take your comment as sarcasm instead of idiocy. It's set by the crime committed and the possible years of sentencing for the crime. When multiple crimes are committed it is set by the crime with the longest sentence. But, the magistrate or judge has leeway to go in either direction of the law based amounts on the credibility of the accused and their probability of flight. Either direction leaves the decision open to appeal. If you ever get arrested for a crime you did not commit, I hope they set your bail from the conservative scale. That was sarcasm.
