ok, I actually read too many pages of this thread (wanted all the background info).

It sounds to me that we have a business owner whose gotten too big a head on him. Yes, it's been there forever, but that in no way gives him or any of his staff the right to treat customers poorly... UNLESS, they are drunk, being belligerent, physically threatening or verbally abusive. THIS IS A CUSTOMER SERVICE DRIVEN BUSINESS. Not leaving a tip is part of the job for waiters and waitresses. They know this and if they don't like it they need to work somewhere else that pays a full wage. And if the owner (eric?) doesn't like it when the customers don't leave tips tell him to take it out of his profit and pay them more. HE MADE money off those customers that he would not have made had they not come there to patronize his establishment.

It's a fact of life... friends, relatives, big money and "frequent fliers" get the best service, but that doesn't mean the others deserve a disservice after spending their hard earned money.

I've never been there and from the looks / sounds of it I won't ever....

I am not talking about the kind there selling at Walmart or kmart, try a gun shop they sell a kind that would bring a brown bear to the ground and its perfectly legal.

A quick review of this thread indicates:
1st post - 9/18/2007 - complaint about wait staff service and management abuse
Page 21 - 11/15/2008 - complaint about wait staff service and management abuse
Sounds like same old same old to me. Appears they lost customers in 2007 and are losing more in 2008. However the business continues to operate even in a bad economy. Therefore they must be doing something right.
They got a lot of good compliments for their food (especially the ruben sandwiches) at the recent "Taste of Clayton" sponsored by the Clayton Women's Club at the Clayton Center. Many of these attendees will be paying them a visit. Lets hope they get friendly and efficient service and good food.

Lets hope so, the chef put alot of work into the gumbo, little pies, and other items they showcased at the Taste of Clayton. AND yes colinmama I know this because we were at McKinleys when they got back at the end of the night and its all everyone was talking about!

Well if the men's club treats the patrons the same way, I hear you can't sit there and drink cokes and take in the scenery without tips and such. LOL

    Why not mckinleys.:jester:

I'll be there for a little while tonight. It is after all Monday night football, with what will hopefully be a decent game.

When you've been exposed to this as I have during my training for DOC, along with chemical mace, and the "civilian" sold pepper sprays. The stuff they sell at gun stores while better than "Wal-mart" pepper spray, it still isn't up to par with what I have been exposed to. And while it did briefly affect my eyes, it was more of the front of my shirt looked like a camel had spit on me from my sinuses suddenly empting themselves down the front of my shirt. And be that as it may we, as prison gaurds still had to work and react.
