My fiance and I discovered a new restaurant in Garner last night. It is at the corner of Aversboro and Timber, in the Lowe's foods center. They serve texas barbeque such as beef brisket and southern sides like collards and mac and cheese. It was so good, especially the corn bread, I was amazed. Being from Oklahoma, it has been difficult to find good brisket and so far this has the best. They have only been open 6 weeks and had a good crowd. I am so excited that we found this gem!!

Is this in the space that was a bar formerly, farthest to the right of Lowes?

I'm glad to see something else has opened up in that area, will have to get DH and try it one night.

This restaurant is a keeper. Ribs and brisket were very tender and good. The collards were delicious, just not cut up like mine. The corn bread had whole kernels of corn and was like dessert. Yum, yum! We definitely will return. Owner's name is Ed. Friendly and efficient wait staff.
PS Some of you will not like it because it is "smoke free".

You need to try the Pit in downtown Raleigh.

The brisket @ Holy Smokes is to die for as well. And love, love, LOVE their turkey.:hurray::hurray::hurray: I wish they sold their sauce so you could have it at home too. Nummy, nummy!

We've been there, it is good too. So, we tried this new place - and it was good, but I wasn't 'blown' away by it. I had the brisket and dh had the ribs, we both had mac/cheese and baked beans.

They will have live Jazz band this weekend, Fri and Sat. The young waitress said the band is good - 'even she enjoyed them'.

I enjoyed Holy Smokes as well but really loved Smokehouse. To me, their brisket was trimmed better and had a better smoke flavor as well as tastier sides but like I said, I do like both of the places and can't wait to try the Pit.

We went on Black Friday for lunch. I got the BBQ sandwich and pork n beans. My wife got the smoked sausage, collards and mac-n-cheese. My review is this. I'm born and bred in NC. I'm used to eastern NC style bbq'd pork. It was OK, but the beans were to onion based. I was saddened that there was no potato side including no fries. My wife enjoyed her smoked sausage but didn't care for either side. I tried the mac-n-cheese and I didn't like it. It's nice but in a bad location at least for me anyways. It was OK, but I prefer Red Hot and Blue in Cary for the Memphis style stuff.

I second this! The Pit has probably the best brisket that I've ever had. :)
