Does anyone know of any good home remedies to help control coughing. Nothing I have on hand is helping! I need some relief from this coughing.
Try rubbing Vicks Vapor Rub on the bottoms of your feet and put socks on. Also drinking warm tea with lemon may help. If you have an uncontrollable cough, you may have bronchitis and need prescription stuff. I had it last Winter and was miserable until I went to the doc. Hope you feel better soon.
My mom's doc told her to mix 1Tbsp each of Honey, Whisker, and lemon juice together and drink it. It did wonders for her cough! She also had high BP and a lot of over the counter meds make that spike. This remedy has no impact on BP.
Have you tried Delsym? I swear by that stuff to stop a cough. You could also try taking 3 laxatives . . . then you'd be afraid to cough :lol:
I tried Delsym when I had bronchitis before I finally gave in and went to the doctor and it did nothing for my cough. I tried the Vicks 44, Robitussin, and Delsym but until I got the prescription stuff from the doc, I thought I was going to cough a lung up!
That happened to me last year, I've had bronchitis a bunch of times, but the last time about did me in. I was sore for 2 weeks from coughing so hard, I literally could not catch me breath at times. I ended up with 2 different prescriptions for cough stuff before I left, one of them had some sort of narcotic in it. Good stuff I tell ya!! :lol: Germy folks stay away from me! I am so susceptible to it, even catching a minor cold can turn to bronchitis in a heartbeat for me. Not sure why, but I've heard that once you get it, it's easier to get it the next time. :banghead:
Thank you all for the answers, tho I think I will stay away from the Elax!! I found out today that you can go to CVS or other drug stores and get cough medicine with codiene in it without a prescription. And yes, I did go and ask. I had to have my ID and sign for it. I took 2 teaspoons of it at work around lunch and I felt much better for a couple of hours and the coughing let up a great deal. Maybe this will be a good night afterall!!
