What I want to know is why the tongue thing bothers Robbie so bad. You have 2 separate post reguarding it. Good grief let it go. Don't you have anything better to do? Those kids had a once in a lifetime experience. Focus on that.:chillpill:

OK, now that the trip is over I want dirt, if any exists. What were the behind the scenes stories? The bus trip, the hotel, the sight seeing. Stories please. The stuff around the performances is what was always best about band when I was in school. Thanks.

I don't know of any dirt stories, sorry. If anything happened, I didn't hear a word about it. The only thing that I know of that went a little wrong was the hotel not having enough food prepared for the Thanksgiving meal. Not having enough turkey and dessert to feed everyone on Thanksgiving was not good. Totally the hotel's fault.

I want to give a shout out to Super Holiday Tours for doing a terrific job of keeping nearly 400 people together and on schedule in NYC during the whole week. And to our WONDERFUL bus drivers who kept us all safe in the traffic, especially during the crazy after-the-parade traffic. Those guys are awesome drivers! :hurray:

What hotel did y'all stay at? I'm sure it's been mentioned earlier, I just don't feel like searching for it. Any sightseeing?

I don't care what anyone says......I was sooooo proud of them! I made all my in-laws come in and watch them....LOLOL I was like, "this is the school my baby goes to!!!" We all were so thrilled and proud! They did GOOD. The girl sticking out her tongue added to the skit itself IMO. And as a former colorguard MANY years ago in PA, I have to say, with all the nervousness and NO DROPS, "WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" And I'm sure those rifle tosses were hard to see with the brightness of the day and the lights that more than likely were in their eyes. I got a busted lip one time practicing from one of those things........Great job!!! With all the negative publicity our county has had with accidents and fights in the schools, this is a woinderful breath of fresh air and puts a positive light in for all!!!

We stayed at the Sheraton Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ. The only blip there (other than the S L O W elevators) was the Thanksgiving meal. Other than them not having enough turkey and pies for everyone, everything was very nice.

Sightseeing? OH YES, we did LOTS of sightseeing. We did a 4 hour city bus tour with a tour guide on Tuesday, during the only rain that we had (perfect timing!) on top of the many hours of free time we had to explore NYC. I have tons of pics (took over 400) that I'd be happy to share if you want to see any. It's taking me forever to upload them all to Photobucket, but if you want to see anything in particular, let me know and I'll see if I have it to post.

No pics necessary. I've been to NYC three times this year. I was just curious for the kids sake that they had the complete NYC experience. When I was at NJHS, no overnight outings were allowed. I'm glad the kids had a ball..........as well as the parents.

Yes you are right, I didn't see any other bands STICK out their tongues, I thought that was pretty Stupid of that girl to do that. Was that actually what she was supposed to do?

REALLY????? These kids just had the opportunity of a lifetime and you're picking on the performance????? Obviously that was part of the performance, it was cute and sassy and was probably the best performance of the day! I'm not a band parent, my kids are in middle, elementary, and preschool but I would love for them to have this kind of chance HOWEVER I would be more than a little irritated if one of my children had the nerve to be the center of attention for 44 million viewers and to have a small-minded person try to tear it apart. Try to remember what it's like to be a teenager before making this kind of comment, it's incredibly hurtful and all of the praise and well-wishing can be swept away with this kind of negativity. You're hurting the feelings of a child - REALLY????? It seems small minded and petty - just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you need to share it. Try to think of who it might hurt first!

Actually, that's what this board is all about. I would have gotten more realistic hair pieces since it was really obvious they were fake and would have toned down the aqua eyeshadow, but it was still great to have JoCo represented.

Why don't all of you that are complaining go to the school and volunteer to help them get it right? Seems that some of you think you could have done a better job

I am EXTREMELY proud of all of the kids...they worked so hard and made lots of sacrifices to do this. And no...I don't have kids in HS.

    Yep.

And BTW, teens are MUCH more catty than us grownups passing the day bsing back and forth on a message board. If reading a stangers comments is going to be the downfall of their self-image then they have bigger problems than cheap weaves and extra eyeshadow.

Hey guys, CHILL out! For a TV viewer waiting to see WJHS perform in the parade, and when they finally came on after a commercial and the audio went out for the TV station and they showed very little of the band and they focused just on that tongue thing, I HONESTLY thought that the boy was mad at the girl for pretending to blow his horn and then she stuck her tongue at him, I honestly thought that it was a real fight. And then WRAL didn't say anything that night about them being in the parade so I honestly thought maybe it was a real fight and they didn't want to talk about them. So remember there are two sides to every story. I am glad they had fun and all the power to them.
