I was proud to see them on TV but was very dissappointed because they came on after a commercial and the audio went out at the TV station and then they only focused on a girl sticking out her tongue (what was that all About, was very embarrassing), and less than 15 seconds later the TV was on to the next float, So it didn't seem like they got much coverage on TV. Hope they had a good time.
I was pretty upset myself about the coverage. they had done pretty good coverage of all the bands until it was our turn. They barely said anything about us. BUT I bet they had a blast. Which is all that really matters.
I thought I had missed it, I turned it on at 10, thinking they'd be on around 11. At 11:40 I was thinking maybe they were on at the beginning and I missed it. I was actually on the phone with my grandma in NY who was watching it, and her TV must be faster than mine, cause she said, Oh, there's North Carolina! So I saw them come on (didn't see the tongue girl though). I thought they did great, but didn't recognize the song? I was just very proud, and didn't even know a single person there. How did they get to be in it, were they chosen or do they apply?
I think they were awesome. All of them!!!!!!! The color guard girl who was featured had a lot of personality and Brett Coats who is graduating this year will be a wonderful director some day. GREAT JOB WEST TWITCH
They apply, by sending in an audition tape - then Macy's selects from the auditions. They only take like 5 HS bands or something like that.
I think when that balloon hit Matt and Merrideth it messed them up the rest of the parade! They couldn't seem to get it together after that. Matt was talking about the group of dancers that performed with Andy Williams when WJ was starting their performance.
Once upon a time drill team member here... :hurray: ... I miss it so much! They did an awesome job .... Congrats WJHS!!
Um, I am wondering too, what was up with the sticking out her tongue. I thought it was strange, but I was still proud of them. It seems as though something of better taste would have been selected for national TV rather than sticking out her tongue. OK, I did get the act she was portraying and realized there was choreography in place, but still was kinda odd!
I thought the same thing, but in the end the kids may not have made all the decisions about costume, makeup, hair, choreography etc. I'd be interested to know who did make the final decisions about these things though.
You are right, the kids probably did not have a whole lot of say in the makeup and choreography, etc, but I am sure someone will probably answer this post and say who did, I think. Regardless, I hope these kids had the time of their lives living it up in NYC!!! Great memories for them to share with future generations.
OK, something tells me the hair, the makeup, the tongue.............somebody is a beauty pageant lady somewhere down the line.:jester: The girl with the tongue? That screams "high maintenance" and "look at me" syndrome. (1.........2...........3.........the band parents' collective blood pressure is sky high by this point):jester: But hey..........they were at NYC on nationwide TV. Oh well huh? My fat arse was in JoCo forcing down dry turkey, scorched chicken pastry and unsalted field peas. I think they got the better end of the deal.
are we seriously still wondering and pondering about the stick of the tongue??!?!?! Geez people ... there are so many other things in the world to give your energy too. But here... just for you
