I REFUSE to go into 2009 with a bad attitude about the economy, jobs, etc. It's going to be a GOOD year, it is what you make of it!
DMJ, I could not agree more! I have faith that everything will work out sooner than later. I would rather be optimistic than pessimistic.
I had a friend who said it was better to be a pessimist than an optimist. Optimists are often disappointed, pessimists never are disappointed. He said, if you're a pessimist and something bad happens, you've expected it and prepared for it, but if something good happens, you're pleasently surprised.
Yes, but sometimes if you spend your time being miserable, you miss all the good things happening around you.
Don't agree with that philosophy, as I've seen it work against you. If you go through life with a negative pessimistic attitude, you'll probably get what you're expecting. If you are optimistic and positive, your life will reflect it. Power of positive thinking, and all that....
A trickle down issue indeed. I don't agreee with bailing them out since they were doing badly even before this crisis and still paying the CEO's 20+ millions a year. But the sad fact of it is state government is hurting regardless of pointing a finger. Car sals hit rock bottom and so does that tax revenue. And what's going to happen in 2009 when state governement doesn't collect property taxes on all those foreclosed homes? Auto makers are in the fortunate position that they affect our economy in so many ways that I think after making them sweat, the government is going to kick in somehow.
