My children took a phone message tonight(automated one) that said that Ms. Davis had sadly passed last night of phenumonia. Does anyone know if this is true? So hard to believe. Thoughts and prayers w/ the Davis family during this trying time. Take care, Stephanie-mom to 7
Someone sent me this info: One of the Assistant Principal's at Cleveland Middle School passed away yesterday. Tanisha Davis had developed pneumonia about a week ago. They think she died of complications, possibly a clot. She was 34 years old, single and leaves behind a young boy. Please pray for the family. I don't have children at this school, so didn't know her, but how very sad- especially right here at Christmas........ :cry:

I have thought about this all last night and this morning. How very very sad for that young boy. It sure did make me do a double take at how blessed we are.
Received the message last night as well. They have a small (info only) spot in the N&O obits. I am guessing they will put the full one out with any details of any arrangments. Just a little reminder that we should all be greatful for what we have and let those we love know it. Never take anything for granted and be glad for any and all your blessings.
That is truly sad and around the holidays, too. My heart goes out to the family with thoughts and prayers if this is confirmed accurate. I had pneumonia last year myself with a partial lung collapse. Until then, I had only been in the hospital for croup when I was about 2 or 3. Pneumonia takes a lot out of any person and I'm in my mid-thirties, too. I had never heard of a clot occurring like this until now, however I guess it would be possible. I will say this...people with compromised immune systems and/or in advancing years should be encouraged to get a pneumonia vaccine and an influenza vaccine. While the flu shot is annually, you only have to get a pneumonia shot every 5 years. That was one of the first things they did at the hospital once I was admitted and stablized was give me a pneumonia vaccine and I plan on getting one at regular intervals from now on. It took me weeks to fully recover from my bout with it.

Gladys Ta-Tanisha Davis December 21, 2008 Clayton- Gladys Ta-Tanisha Davis, age 31, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Ms. Davis was born in Charleston, South Carolina on September 11, 1977 to Leola Brown Russell and the late James E. Russell. She received her Master’s Degree from East Carolina University and attended The Lord’s Table Church. Mrs. Davis was the Assistant Principal with Cleveland Middle School. She leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Leola Brown Russell of Goldsboro; her son, Timothy W. Davis Jr. of the home; two sisters, LeAudrey Mozell Giordano and her husband, Guyle, of Tucson, Arizona and Jamela Shanette Galloway and her husband, Michael, of Raleigh; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Homegoing services will be held Friday, December 26, 2008 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A viewing will be held on Friday prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends other times at the home of her mother, 104 South Becton Lane in Goldsboro. The family is being served by Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
That is so awful. Our prayers are with her family. I too have nothing to do with that school, but it doesn't take away from the sadness. She is younger than I am. It helps keep life in perspective, and especially at the holidays, when we are all worrying about money to buy presents, we need to be thinking about the important stuff.
I had very little warning of what was coming on me when I had bacterial pneumonia. I had some light respiratory congestion to begin with over course of the weekend that preceded my pneumonia. Monday I called my doc to see if they had any openings and they said they had no appointments. That day, I was feeling like I was getting the flu basically. I got to feeling more weak and the coughing up stuff got worse. That night I was typing on the computer (on a message board actually) when I felt as if I had had enough. I went and laid down at about 7:30 pm on that Monday night. From there, I went downhill through the night. I developed a higher fever of about 101-102 degrees. I had bouts of vomiting. I was coughing and vomiting almost neon green congestion. I was developing a prominent wheeze. Throughout the night I was extremely restless and had what seemed like wierd dreams. By the next morning it was apparent that I was fairly sick. I was having shortness of breath and those symptoms were carrying over. My wife drove me to the doc with me lying in the back seat. Chest X-rays confirmed the symptoms as pneumonia. The doc said that I could go home with antibiotics but strongly recommended being admitted to the hospital. I went to the hospital and in the next 30 minutes, I went downhill more...mostly due to dehydration. I was physicially spent by about 1:00 PM that day and basically collapsed on the waiting room bed at the emergency room. By then I was coughing up blood. In the ER, I had some strong pain meds, saline IVs, more X-rays and breathing treatments. They offered me a light sandwich supper in the ER and my appetite stayed fairly good throughout which I think helped. I spent the next two days in the hospital and felt notably better when I left but still had symptoms for quite awhile, mostly shortness of breath and fatigue. My right lung had partially collapsed. The next Sunday I was back at the ER with pleursy. It probably took me at least three weeks before I could walk in a store like Wal-Mart without being exhausted. At least those were my symptoms. Once you've had pneumonia, you don't forget it. I still have some scar tissue in my right lung from the ordeal. That is why I strongly advise anyone to watch those respiratory infections closely. You'd be surprised at how fast a bacterial infection can take you down. I don't mean to turn this tragedy to talking about my situation, but its important that people take pneumonia VERY seriously.
Wow, Ok, Thanks for that bit of info. I have been sick for the last 1 1/2 weeks and I was curious. Pnuemonia does seem to take you down quick. Glad you recovered. I don't think I have that.
