http://www.wral.com/news/national_world/national/story/4199428/ NEW YORK — A family friend says Eartha Kitt, a sultry singer, dancer and actress who rose from South Carolina cotton fields to become an international symbol of elegance and sensuality, has died. She was 81. Andrew Freedman says Kitt died Thursday of colon cancer and was recently treated at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Kitt, a self-proclaimed "sex kitten" famous for her catlike purr, was one of America's most versatile performers, winning two Emmys and getting a third nomination. She also was nominated for two Tony Awards and a Grammy.
I read this and was so sad. She was a great singer. My grandparents told me that things come in threes so I foresee at least two more famous people will pass on before year end. Happy holidays to you and yours, Sherry
I didn't realize till this morning that it was her that did the 'Santa Baby' song. yup I had always heard about the three's. So I wonder who the next two are going to be.
I have loved Eartha's music for years. Check out some of her 1950's-1960's - hits....(on youtube, of course!) Good Stuff. RIP. Side note: She was born in SC.
I'll really miss her singing "Santa Baby". Of all the women that played Catwoman (Nothing against Halley), she was my favorite. She had a "purr" that made most red blooded males quiver. On top of that, she seemed like a genuinely nice person. RIP Kitty Baby Mike
No matter what his politics were he was great. BRS...this may be the second of the three. So sad. Sorry to say this Sherry, But I never heard of him. And usually the three's are in the entertainment industry not from the nobel or politics arena. Not that it makes his or anyone else's death less important. btw thanks for the Merry Christmas PM.
