no, I wasn't around a cat in NY, and the cough was the same actually. it's just gotten worse the last week, although I now have a cold on top of it, so not sure if that's why. I did feel better being outside yesterday to answer that question, but too tired to be outside, too tired to do anything really. I also felt better in the shower, didn't want to get out, but the kids made me!! I don't have any adult mucinex, maybe I should try the kid's mucinex I have. And the other question, the halls I had tried first were sugar free, and they didn't help either. I'm sipping some tea now... The questions/answers are coming too fast, I can't keep up!! (but thanks!) I'm going to the dr at noon today, let's see if he has any solutions...Hught, let me know what your doc says, wonder if we've got the same problem? Also wonder if we've got the same doctor??
Oh...and I don't have any honey or whiskey, and I forgot the other thing that was mentioned to try? Oh, lemon. I HATE lemon. Am drinking tea now. Basically, anything that I put into my mouth aggravates my cough, I have come to that conclusion on my own. I'll let you know what the dr tells me. 2 years ago, this same exact time of year, I was having breathing problems and heart palpitations. One night it was so bad, I was scared to go to sleep, for fear I wouldn't wake up. I went to the ER, my dr twice, cardiologist twice and the pulmonologist once. No one found anything wrong with me and said it must be stress. I swore up and down there was something wrong with me and no one found anything wrong, and to this day it drives me crazy that nothing was found, like I was making the whole thing up. So I have a feeling this is going to be the same thing...But it's weird that it's the same exact time of year.
I have been sick since Thanksgiving and just cannot get well. It started with me hurting my back during Thanksgiving, going to the doctor for that, getting a flu shot while at the doctor's office and I have gone downhill from that point. I cannot seem to keep anything down and get dehydrated quickly. Yes, I am using suppositories (hate those things). Coughing and sneezing have come and gone but keeping anything on my stomach is a struggle. I am trying to hang in until after the holidays due to the teen having a New Years Eve Party and my mother. Am lining up help on the home front if a hospital stay is in store. DMJ and Hugh...hope you both get better and please keep us updated. Gotta love the 4042 family...advise and if one cannot get out people to communicate with other than family. Haven't told many people how sick I am as it seems as though so many people need our thoughts and help right now that times flies by before I realize how long it's been. Hope you guys feel better soon, Sherry
OK...I'm back, and I think Hugh was in the same dr office the same time I was! They called in a Hugh right before me, what are the odds it was a different one?? But I see he hasn't posted yet, so don't know, we'll see! Anyway, he's putting me on zithromax and prednisone (I've never been on that because I never get sick, but I know it does weird things to my hubby!) and is going to treat it as URI. Said it should clear it up within 7-10 days for sure, and if it doesn't to call him, and then he'd give me singulair, but doesn't want to give that to me on top of these other 2 things if I don't need it. So we'll see...So I'll keep you all updated. I'm curious what Hugh found out. And sorry, Sherry to hear you're not feeling well. I'll tell you, that dr office was filled with sick people today!
Now, take the medicine as prescribed and hopefully all will be great. I hope Hugh's illness can be taken care of like yours and all will turn out better. I'll be okay...it's keeping stuff down. I don't weigh much anyhow so when I get sick everyone goes nuts because I get dehydrated but I seem to feel somewhat better right now. Go, sick people...get well, Sherry
If it was at Horizon than you saw the elusive Hught! I was there mainly for something other that the cough, but he did give me antibiotics, because the cough has gone on for three weeks now. If t e message looks funny, it is because I am on the phone again waiting for the perscreption to be filled.Hope you are doing better!
Yep, I was at Horizon at 11:45, and they called you in shortly after I sat down. My kids weren't with me, otherwise I'd say you'd have noticed me for sure! I'm going to CVS to pick up my prescriptions right now, hope you start feeling better soon! (I was wondering if that was you sitting there, but didn't hear you cough, you might have noticed me hacking away as soon as I walked in, and never stopped)
Well if you ever see me again say Hi, and I will introduce myself properly! That is after you get rid of what ever you got right now!
could be the dry air. I noticed a lot of static lately. hught misspelled prescription and I caught it. Go figure...lol who is on the spelling police these days?
Yeah, I noticed it as well but am reminded that he is on the phone typing. Also, he was sick so I guess we'll let it slide this time. Laughing, Sherry
I now have bronchitis and was also put on zithromax yesterday. Also have a prescription for Robitussum AC.
Hugh - I didn't know for sure it was you until they called you back, I didn't want to stop the flow of things to say hello, otherwise I would have! They sure were busy yesterday, that poor kid next to me seemed to be in rough shape! Hope everyone starts feeling better soon! I don't think mine i just dry air, I can't even put into words what kind of cough I have, or how often I do it, my husband thought I coughed about 2000 times the other day, and I don't think that's an exaggeration! Sometimes I do it so much it feels like I'm going to throw up, but I don't. I really hope this medicine works!
We have had our round with coughs here too. My 4 yr old had one that wouldn't go away with antibiotics so they put her on Singular. It seemed to be working, but then the cough came back. The nurse suggested we try Clariton to see if that would dry her out, and that seemed to work. Now I have a cough that I've had off and on for months, but recently got really bad. I was told that there was nothing they could give me to get rid of it, no antibiotics, I will just have to wait it out. The nurse I saw that day told me she had one for a month or two. UGH! So I have been just making sure I drink plenty of fluids, mostly water, but some cranberry ginger ale too, and instead of cough drops I use sugar free candy. At night I have been using Vicks Vapo Rub. Good luck, hope your cough goes away soon, I know what a pain in the butt it is, I'm SO sick of coughing!
Just curious if anyone has ever had any xrays done for coughing? A nurse friend of mine this morning asked if my dr gave me any, which he didn't, and I didn't think to ask for any. Drinking for me only makes my coughing worse, surprised I'm not dehydraded yet due to my not drinking enough (I know I'm not) Luckily I don't cough at night, so that's not a problem for me - knock on wood! If it doesn't go away after the 10 days he says it should, I think I will ask for xrays, what do you all think?
Ya'll stay away from me! Hope everyone's feeling better soon! wiskey & honey & nyquil ~ my home remedy.
How do you check for pneumonia? All I know is he said there's no wheezing and my lungs sound clear. I've had no fever, and no other symptoms, just the cough.
