As long as their school work and chores are done they can play until bedtime, which by time homework, chores and dinner are done, is a very short time.
Yes we do. We ALLOW them to have a roof over their heads, food on their plates, and clothes on their back for the minimal chores they do.
Same here. If I gave all an allowance, we'd be broke--LOL. Mine do chores too. They also know though if they want to go to the movies w/ friends or wherever, then we would pay. I never got an allowance growing up either. I'm no worse for wear. Stephanie--mom to 7
We would be broke too Stephanie, we have just two less than you. Our kids are good about helping out, most of the time. They take turns loading and unloading the dishwasher, take out the trash and recyclables, take turns walking the foster dog, and occasionally help with laundry. I don't feel that they should have too many chores, otherwise they would have no time to 'play' after homework, dinner, and showers. But it is imperative to help out when there are so many of us.
OMG, first thing that popped into my head was "your house, your rules" I have always tended not to argue with my kids. They are given a specific amount of time to explain their side of things, then they listen to our side, the parents side and the final decision and the last word on the subject, end of discussion, no more is said.
