Nope tax dollars do not pay for cable or satellite in North Carolina prisons. The profits made off of the inmate prison canteen pays for it....so indirectly the inmates pay for it themselves.
They posted his address on CL yesterday. Hopefully after he gets out in an amazingly short amount of time after a slap on the wrist some crazy activist will be out there waiting for him.
Those profits should go to the crime victims instead. Inmates don't need to be watching TV, unless they're watching educational TV in hopes of being a contributing member of society when they get out. The guy in this story is sick, but he isn't the real problem. Whenever your neighbor let's a Pit Bull get out and kill a pony like this guy did ...and he is still allowed to own animals after that ...the local government deserves ALL the blame.
But when courts have ruled that they should have access to TV, guess it is better to let them pay for it than taxpayers.
UPDATE: He's out on bail...........$3000.00 http://www.newsobserver.com/news/crime_safety/story/1358140.html
I'll drive! As an animal lover I'd like to do some VERY VERY BAD THINGS to this dude. AND THEN SOME!:twisted::twisted:
an update: http://www.wral.com/news/local/story/4271511/ Fremont, N.C. — A Fremont man facing three misdemeanor animal-cruelty charges said that he is studying taxidermy and that the allegations cost him his job. McKenzie denied killing the animals and said that he picks up the carcasses of animals – including deer, turtles and owls – killed by vehicles, hunters or natural causes. He uses guides to taxidermy and pioneers' survival techniques to teach himself. McKenzie said he doesn't see the difference between collecting dumped carcasses from the side of the road and killing and shooting animals while hunting. He also raises goats, turkeys and chickens to eat and breeds dogs to sell, McKenzie said. After news of the allegations broke, he was let go from his job at a Fremont retirement home, McKenzie said. He also operates his own business, Handy Man's Handy Man.
