ever used ancestry.com??? Do you like it and is it informative enough? My friend has a laptop and we were on it the other night looking at that site. I would LOVE to find my ancestors but is this place worth it?
I would think it is worth a trial at least. I lucked out finding this guy who had done a special study of the area where my dad's family is from and was able to trace my family back to the 1700s. I never paid anything.
I have been a paid member for several years. If you have the heart for geneology it is the best site out there. I have not only researched our tree but have been asked by others as well. The site is continually adding to itself every day with new historical data. I suggest using it as a non-paid member at first to see if this is truly for you. Once you have used it I believe you will eventually become a paid member and then have access to much more detailed information. ps - just one example of what I found - my husband's great great grandmother was full blooded American Indian. i found the first census record she was listed on. it lists the reservation she lived on as where she was born. Both of our children thought that was incredible the first time they read it online.
My mom has been a paid member of the site for years and loves it. I've used it a time or two. If you're serious about finding ancestors, you just can't do any better than ancestry.com. Good luck!
