Some guy came through our neighborhood Saturday asking for cash/check donations. Claimed to represent the Cleveland Fire Dept and stated the fed gov had denied funding to purchase a hydraulic lift stretcher; looking for community support to raise $$ for that. Smelled fishy so I kept my $$.

Called the Cleveland Fire Dept and their chief knew nothing about this fund raiser.

I would definately say yup..especially if the Cleveland Fire Dept chief know nothing about it.

he claimed to have credentials. but i would not recognize the paper it's written on though. i did not get the guys name... but if he's a fraud i doubt he would give legit id.

He walked through our neighborhood as well and came to my door. I turned him down as he looked iffy. Anyone who goes door to door nowadays gets no love for me.

I know they came thru recently for their annual fundraiser, where you make the donation and get a 'free' portrait (that we never go and do) but he had a picture id. This is about the only door-to door I'll contribute to.

Last year we were scammed or gypped by the Clayton EMS. I donated $25 and in return we were supposed to receive a free family portrait. NEVER heard back from them so I called and emailed them, they didn't even have the decency to get back to me. When treated like that, it really turns one off from donating again. :?

he did not mention the portrait fund raiser. just the hydraulic lift.

I was implying that maybe your guy was a scam, as they have already been through for their fundraiser.

I've done this a few times and I always got my free portrait, when he was there he should have given you a date to go to the EMS station when the portrait people were there. Sorry it didn't work out..that's frustrating..

we have been using summit productions the past couple of years and it seems that every year the complaints are getting more frequent, and as of a few moments ago, they we told to have ALL of their personel out of the McClemore fire district by 12 noon and if any sales were done after this time ( and we found out about it) they would be arrested. the reason we held this fundraiser was to generate money for the Cleveland Volunteer Firefighters Association not the Cleveland VFD. We have our own charter and use this money for needy families during the holidays and the restoration of our 1st fire engine. ALSO, WE WOULD NEVER ASK ANY OF OUR TAXPAYERS TO DONATE ANY MONEY TO US!!!! Lord knows we already do that through our fire taxes!!! so from this moment on anyone saying they are representing CVFD do not give them a dime, and call the sheriff's dept immediately!!! any questions feel free to call the station 989-1909
