Okay when do they plow the back roads? I know they are keeping the main roads clear but if they don't do the back roads how do you get to the main roads?
Very carefully...........................................sorry, I couldn't resist!:jester: It's been days before by the time they got out our way, but you may see them hopefully tomorrow. How are the roads in Clayton, I never left the house today, as there is a big hill between me and town. DH took the truck out, but that was before lunch and all this mess froze.
We attempted to venture out earlier today to go to D.R. Wells to buy a snow shovel. Got to Polenta @ Indian Camp Rd and Got stuck off side of road. We were in a 4wheel Drive Full Size Bronco. A nice man with a winch on his truck pulled us out. Have not gone out since then but roads were very icy.
I have been out here over 8 years and I can not remember ever seeing plows or salt trucks back out this way by polenta and indian camp. I ventured out around 4:30 and on my way back started to slide around that curve between Grill road and Myatt Place. I did see some guy in a large Ford pick up going up and down the streets spinning out his rear tires purposely as he went around corners. Do not know if he was just being an idiot or thinking he was doing some good by spinning out the slush.
Been here since 92 - never seen a plow on most of the back roads and never in my subdivision. We're lucky they plow 210 when they do. We're at the mercy of the sun.
Plow trucks were in our neighboorhood this afternoon. I guess it was our Town of Clayton taxes at work.
There is supposed to be a regional plan for plowing and snow removal. The counties surrounding major arteries are essentially stripped of equipment to keep the arteries open. Thus, I-95, I-40 and I-85 in this area are given the primary resource allocation and the lesser arteries are cleared in order of importance.
Bucky's right, that's your Town of Clayton taxes at work. Out in the county, we rely on the sun. As my dear old Dad used to say, the good Lord put it there, and the good Lord will take it away. We should get melting on the blacktop, even if the temp doesn't get above freezing.
Husband and I went out last night around 5:30 to check the roads, and there were quite a few pickup trucks with plows on the front, some in parking lots, some on the back roads. Also saw a regular plow truck on 210 near McGee's.
Grill Rd is still a sheet of ice! Now plows here yet, but I'm not going anywhere, so I dont care.
We just had a road grater come down my subdivision about an hour ago. Ive got a few places to go, I just hope that 210 and 42 are clear, but it looks positive because theres very little ice on my driveway because of the sun.
Anyone have anything to report on Cornwallis and Cleveland RDs? We have a vet appt at 4 this afternoon and I am a little nervous about finally going out to drive in snow. It has been awhile since I drove in inclimate weather.
Yes, we heard them as they went through. Had a teenage boy come over and shovel the driveway and sidewalks. If only our taxes would pay for someone to do that as well...just kidding. Have you been out today? If so, how are the roads? Sherry
Just drve from South Plantation to Grand Street Pizza. Roads are MUCH better than this morning. There are some areas that the sun has not started to work on yet but all in all the roads are down to pavement and are just wet.
it isnt that bad, a little icy when you go towards Matthews Rd. (as you pass where the new school is being built) but I just saw on the news that the wet roads could freeze over again tonight and to watch out for black ice in the morning. I NEED to go to work tomorrow . Bills to pay:ack::ack::ack:and the kids have been driving me crazy for 2 days now so I'll be glad to be back on the road again!!!!!
