Just wondering does anyone that have kids school (mostly for parents of boys) that have the tshirts with skulls on it? My youngest has a tshirt with 2 skulls and a guitar and he just informed me that one of teachers said he could never wear it again to school. My other son has tshirts like that also and no one has said anything to him. The shirt isn't bad in my opinion there is no blood or violence portrayed on it. It was only one teacher that has a problem with it.
I can't find a dress code on their website, or in their online version of the agenda. I'd just shoot her an email and ask her what specifically was wrong with the shirt, and if she would mind sending home a copy of the dress code.
My son has one of the 'layered' look Miami Ink shirts with the skull and hearts and flowers shirts. One teacher said, and I quote, " I do not like that shirt". So far that's all I have heard from DS#1. It's my understanding that each teacher each has their own version of what's offensive to them. The 'tag' teachers are the ones that report any 'dress code' infractions.
That's all my son wears to school. Everything he wears has skulls on them. Shoot, he even has skulls on his shoes. He wears a skull necklace too.He wears gloves with skulls on them as well as a toboggan. He does go to Wake Co. Schools...........but I don't see why it would be a problem...weird!
If the clothing in question is deemed "disruptive", then it probably falls short of the dress code. The teacher would probably notify the Assistant Principal for that grade level, and advise. By all means, email the teacher and ask. Email is better than a note, because it provides some capability of tracking who said what and when it was said. And, FWIW, I have no problems with school uniforms.
I am scared to ask him....LOL....he isn't trying to invent the tofu cocktail is he? tofu on the rocks?
Oh now see, I think uniforms are good. Not military, catholic school uniform style but a classy upbeat style that is respectful. That way it cuts costs on school shopping cause I HATE that. AND it allows the kids to accept each other for WHO THEY ARE and not WHAT they wear. JMHO......
No, but in watching Chopped on the Food network the other night they had to make a dish out of Tofu and several other ingredients. And my first thought and still the one I would still run with based ont he ingredients they were forced to use would have been a tofu salsa, as the dish in question had to be an appetizer type food. A little tofu chopped up, a few jalepenos, bacon (required ingredient), garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, add a little lime juice to the mix, and serve up with some warmed salsa chips. Cook up the bacon, chop the tofu into small cubes that you then brown in the bacon fat, in a food processor you mix the rest of the ingredients and process. Once done add in the little lime juice, bacon and toasted tofu and fold in until well mixed. And I bet it would have won compared to the other dishes they had. Craig
See that is my thought as well. Something along lines of what is considered business casual. IE khaki's and golf shirts with the school logo/name on the golf shirts. Offer the girls uniform skirts if they choose to wear them over the khakis Craig
Now that sounds nice and comfortable. Maybe one day, Craig.....maybe one day. Someone will listen to us and see how bright we are and that our ideas are over the top! LOL :jester: Seriously, it would be nice................
that sounds dee-lish. I think you should whoop up a batch of that, along with cocktails....call it a party.
I'm pretty sure what Craig has said is close to what East Wake Academy in Zebulons dress code is. I used to work with a woman who was enrolling her son there starting with 1st grade. She had to buy him beige khakis, a comfortable brown shoe/loafer and navy blue or white polo shirts. They were allowed to wear shirts & sweatshirts that had the school logo on them as well. In the winter they were also allowed to wear vests or sweaters over the approptiate color turtle/mock turtlenecks or button up shirts.
skull = decayed head= death I have no kids in school but have grandkids in school. Their parents (our children) do not allow their kids to purchase and weak clothes with skulls. If I had kids in school I would be in favor of the suggested dress codes. Kaki slacks, golf shirts, etc. It would actually save money in my opinion.
I like the way my DH's hometown (Richmond County) does it. Khaki's with a nice collar shirt that's the school colors, either solid green or solid yellow. Wouldn't this actually save money for families when buying clothes?
