Why do people burn their grass?

    I've always wondering this.... can someone enlighten me as to what burning your grass benefits?

    it does. it supposedly adds fertilizer, naturally to the ground for lush green grass.

    well, alrighty then .... I have another reason to start a fire. I love burning wood in my fire barrel and now my sister got me a fire put for Christmas! I'm in heaven! :lol::lol::lol::lol:

    Me and the neighbor are just plain pyros and love to do some burning. Makes for a good friday or saturday night during the fall when there is nothing else to do. Grab a case of beer, garden hose, ane rake and light up the fallen leaves in the yard and woods between our houses.

    Lord have mercy, I have a feeling my husband might be meeting some of you pyros one day when the fire department is called to your house :jester:

    love my fire pit - on Tuesday nite we were all outside around it in the snow and cooked on the grill - only thing that would have been better was if my hot tub wasn't messed up.

    Follow up question: why do people mow their dirt? I've seen some do it! no grass growing at all.. and they come in on the lawnmower like its doing something.

    I never heard of people burning their grass until this Thread and looking at Kell's link. With my luck I would burn down my house at the same time.

    Be careful but if Michelle's guys show up please PM me as I'll run right over. :mrgreen:

    Some people, around here, burn their grass to get rid of sand spurs. They are horrible to have, and burning the grass is one of the ways to get rid of them.

    Tell me about it! I have an acre and over half of it is sand spurs! My dog is constantly limping from them being stuck in his paws.
