Please have a special thought for all of the teens heading to the High School Conference Swim Meet tonight. Those making the cut will then go on to State. Teen needs a scholarship.......everybody, thoughts please. Thank you, Sherry
Well, my initial Post was incorrect, it should have stated that they move from Conference to Regionals then to States. Anyhow it looks as though Holy Springs came in first on the girls and Clayton third. I cannot remember second and the rest as they were finishing up when we left at 11:00 pm. The Clayton High boys were in first place. West Johnston was doing well....hey with an all star on the team one cannot complain. SH and my teen are friends and it seems that SH had just returned from Guam at a swim meet. SH kicked butt. I kept yelling at her to slow down and when she would get out of the water she and my teen would talk. East Wake was not up to par. One girl on that team is awesome, not up to par with West Johnston's SH but very good. My teen has been swimming with the one from West Johnston and the one from East Wake for many years. They are all great sportswomen. Clayton High's boys rocked! HSHS had divers who pulled in alot of points. I hate that we missed seeing them but they dive at a different pool earlier than the rest of the meet. My teen came in fourth in the 500 free and third or fourth in the 100 back. She messed up by going to deep initially so her streamline brought her back up almost 3/4 the length of the pool, which is good in one sense, but it took her to long to move to the top for her first stroke. She should have come in first but that really messed her up. Every single kid participating, the coaches and the parents were wonderful. Will update when the final numbers come in. Looks like most schools will have some swimmers progressing to Regionals. We are pretty sure that mine will be one in both the 500 free and the back. All swimmers were awesome and I am just worn out from watching (tee hee). I always tell the swimmers that and they laugh. Thanks for the support and I'll update as soon as we find out the final results. Cary should be extremely proud of that aquatics center. It was filled to capacity and the boards showing total team counts and individuals were awesome. Money well spent, I think. Sherry

Part of the reason on the girls side for the wide difference in points is that one school had divers. Divers get more points. Wish we had a place for our kids in Johnston County do dive but even so.......all teams did well. Sherry
hello, wjhs has a swim team????????????? i'm an elem sch mom i did not know again thank for the info. i will be going next time.8)
Yes West Johnston High has a swim team. They have a girl swimmer that is just awesome. My teen knows her very well and they talk every time they see one another. The girl on WJHS competes on a national and international scale. She actually made it to the Olympic Trials. How awesome is that? The best thing with this swimmer is that she is very humble. Swimming is a wonderful sport and not enough teens try out in high school. Scholarships are available for the swimmers who compete in Regionals and States if the scouts make that decision. Sherry
