Looking to go away for the weekend during Valentine's Day. Can someone tell me which area would be better & suggestions of where to stay. What is there to do at either place?

Love Charleston ... the carriage rides through the city are wonderful and the views are wonderful. The hotels downtown are all nice and allow you to nearly walk everywhere unless you take a plantation tour. I think my son stayed in a B&B near the ocean once and loved it too.

    CHARLESTON!!!!!!!!!

You really can't compare Hilton Head to Charleston - two different environments. Hilton Head is the "CARY" of South Carolina. A very nice beach - but pricey! Lots of golf courses, good seafood. However in the winter there is not a whole lot to do.

Charleston offers LOTS of history - you can do self-tours or hook up with a tour guide; great City to walk around in - the old Market area is wonderful, the Citadel is a beautiful campus to drive thru, and there are some great seafood restaurants. Lots of B&B's downtonw. My husband and I stayed at Middleton Place Plantation 5 years ago - about 15 minutes outside of the city. Great place to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

myrtle beach... go see shows and then have a romatic dinner.
closer to home and less expensive.
Why pay good money to go to a beach if it is too cold to enjoy it.

    sorry i am cheap....
plus if you are going with your honey - you may never leave the room.....
