I will not allow Limewire to be on any computer we use at home because of peer to peer sharing. I have been told that Utorrent is not a peer to peer but allows one to download files. Is this correct? Does it take up a lot of memory? Anyone have any good or bad things to say please let me know. Sherry
Memory? No more than any other program. Or do you mean hard drive space? There is a difference. You can download all sorts of stuff with Torrent's. Some legal, some illegal. Some safe, some full of viruses. Crapshoot.
I have just started using Bit Torrent. So far so good. I have been using Isohunt.com for all my torrents.
Thanks, Grinder. I have also taken into consideration what you stated above about the downloads. Sherry
Yes. BitTorrent itself is a peer to peer protocol -- take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_(protocol). You can configure most clients to not upload, but many servers or peers will throttle you (or ban you altogether) if your ratio (up/down) leans too far towards download only.
