I need someone who knows what they are doing and who doesn't do sloppy work to alter DD's prom dress. This will require matching the current material and adding a panel in the back. I've used a lady on Hwy. 50 before and I was not pleased with her work. Any recommendations?

Thanks Sherry! Are her prices reasonable?

Yes, they are. Depends on what is needed but most everyone I know uses her. My teen bought a purse and realized it did not have a zipper to close it. Took it to Jenny and for around $6.00 the zipper was in. Ask her when you call about an estimate and how long it will take.

No problem. You will laugh when go to her place. It's a yellow house with a bench on the front porch. She'll have you open the seat of the bench for items and payments. She will come to the door and take you in for measurements and all but it is funny how she does things.

    You will not be disappointed.

Really? If it's the same person, she did my wedding dress and I thought she did a good job?

Check with Selena. She has a shop in Shotwell Station. We have had her fix some shirts and coats. Very reasonable, I believe. Sorry, don't have a number.

Is this a cleaners or just a alteration/tailor shop?

That kinda worries me because this dress is NOT something I would want to put in a bench and leave for several reasons.

I'm just not sure about the quality of her work. She altered DD's dress last year and when we finally picked it up (the day before the ball and after 4 measuring sessions) she had not even bothered to "clean it up". I had to take it home and get the scissors and trim the threads, etc. Plus there was a really pretty line of beading around the bodice of the dress and she didn't even bother to match them at the seam. In the end she did not have to hem it but she still charged me a little more than she had originally quoted.

She did not have my dress ready when promised so I made a trip all the way there for nothing. I had to go back the following day (day of the event). She also was $20 more than quoted.

Don't worry about it. She has done this for at least 10 years. I'm just letting you know. She is very professional and does most dance studios and cheer leading teams outfits.

Are you talking about Jenny? Because I send alot of business her way and would not want this happening to anyone. It does not sound like her at all.

I think she's talking about someone else. I've taken a sewing class from Jenny and the woman is a wizard with a sewing machine.

No, no, no. We're talking about a woman who owns a business on Hwy. 50 near Bryan Lee funeral home.

I'm gonna try Jenny since you guys so highly recommend her.

We went to pick up the dress the day before the event and the door was locked and the open sign was not one. I was pizzed. I banged on the door and she opened it and said that all of her customers knew she was closed on Tues. and Thurs. to catch up on her sewing and to just knock on the door. Well she forgot to tell me!
